Hi all. I'm looking for a good cake recipe that will result in good coverage when splatted in someone's face. Can anyone suggest a good recipe?

The coverage I want is mainly icing, but with plenty of actual cake.

I was thinking of making a thin cake and then dolloping butter icing on top until it was nice and thick. What does anyone here suggest? If I was to go for a tiered cake, what should I do differently to the thin cake + butter cream?

I imagine under-cooking the cake batter would help it by more adhesive and less flakey. You don't want it so the body of the batter would accidentally clean the mess off a face!

You could hollow out the center of the cake and add more icing or custard

@brocas, you would think so, but no. If you under cook it, it is too flimsy to do anything with (throwing wise) We had to shoot a cake sitting that day instead of a cake fight, because of that. It was very very messy.

I've done that before, Tilly! Even a regular height cake, so it has more support for all the frosting is good. But, yeah! Pile on the frosting 3" or 4" thick (or even more!).

I've also done what JD suggested; hollow out the center of the cake and fill with more frosting, or custard, or fruit filling! That makes it super-messy!

If you go with a tiered cake, I'd make the bottom layer regular thickness for support, and make any other layers thin, with several inches of frosting between them. Then whether you sit on it or smash it in your face, you go through layers and layers of cake and goo!

If you by some pie bases .Mix up some Aunt Bessies cake mix using the instructions.Use lukewarm water,eggs & olive oil. For topping i use some white marshmallow fluff.Its difficult to spoon out .So allow plenty of time! also fill the bases with custard & fluff.
I live in the U.K but if you are across the pond the pie mix is alot easier.Then just simply serve in the victim's face or bottom !! ( see my pics for serving suggestion warning male wam)
