Living up in the Northeast US, mudding in the winter months simply isn't possible. At best, things warm up enough around here to start using spots by late April to early May, and it's sometimes best to wait another month for things to start reaching their summer peaks. Anyone else looking forward to things thawing out in the northern hemisphere in the next couple months?
Up here in Yorkshire it's the same, mud season rarely opens before May and last year it was the end of May before it got warm enough, though we then managed to do 22 scenes in the six week heatwave that followed. We already have our newest visitor to the Hall, Aurora, hoping for mud in late May, but everything depends on the weather. We generally need at least 21 C / 70 F, sunny, and low wind, before outdoor mud becomes practical up here.
If I'm going to do some summer mudding, I'll be bringing my custom made fox fursuit head, hand paws, arm sleeves, tail & feet. Someday I'll be doing some videos & photos of my fox fursuit getting very extremely sexy while getting covered in mud & sinking in it. So someday, but not today.
I'm watching the temperatures and poring over Google earth to find some new areas to investigate. I was getting concerned about disturbing nesting birds at some of my previous spots, so I want to vary it a little. April has been my earliest so far, or May if we have a cool April. So hopefully not that far off.
