It's interesting to see the new stars in the WAM world, getting nice and messy and carrying on this lovely fetish. Going back to when I first got into it (cue weird reminiscing music), it was the mighty Splosh magazine and videos that got my blood pumping (and others parts).
Seeing these lovely girls covering themselves in custard, beans, treacle and others foods was amazing, and I still think there a certain style about the way it was done. Not taking anything away from current people/sites.
There is just something about that you can instantly recognise it as a Splosh set.
In honour of this I have put together some Legends of Splosh.
It would be interesting to see if anyone has a particular person they remember from this era.

Alot of the girls that appeared in Splosh (both videos and the magazine ) were at the also active in a number of top shelf magazines, as well as modelling for more normal stuff (Louise was even seen on the cover of a wordsearch magazine, and Take a Break).
Karen, Rachel, Robyn, Amanda, Sammy-Jane and Louise were regularly seen in Escort, Razzle, Fiesta and appeared in a number of the Razzle Romp sets.
They also appeared in a number of Wamtec scenes as well.
Gilly who appeared in many Splosh shoots, had her own offshoot site 'Gillys Silly House, which, as also run by Bill Shipton was done in the same style as Splosh. It also featured Anne-Marie in a various photo sets with Gilly (although Anne-Marie was also in Splosh magazine and some videos).
As to what happened to them, I'm not entirely sure to the best of my knowledge:
Sammy-Jane: unsure Karen: retired from modelling, went on to run a fish and chip shop (I know what I'd do with the batter) Rachel: unsure, but something in my head says she went on to run a B&B (but could completely wrong) Louise: had a successful website, but retired from modelling, believe now lives in Spain (again could be completely wrong with living in Spain bit) Emma: unsure Robyn: unsure, had children, retired from modelling. Gilly: last heard was still active doing custom shoots. Amanda: unsure Anne-Marie: unsure Joanne: unsure Helen: unsure Mouse: unsure, but still active I believe.
Long post...sorry, have some more pics to easy the reading.
When I found Splosh mentioned in a magazine. I ordered it ! I was 18 or 19 and WOW! Splosh was the forerunner of everything today. Their videos were legendary too! My favourite models were in no particular order! Louise Hodges, Sammy -Jane, Gilly, Jo Bache, Helen, and Vicky Ford ! I wonder if any of them are still sploshiing or modelling?
What a numpty I am. Just noticed I'd put the wrong name on my Helen picture. It is in fact Vicki Ford. Please see the correct picture for Helen (and Vicky with the correct name now)
Back in the early 1990s, when the internet was nascent, I happened to catch film director John Waters on some talk show. Waters was known for these trashy/campy movies set in Baltimore in the 1950s. Anyway, he talked about this magazine dedicated to this BIZZARRE fetish-- apparently there are men who get off on seeing pretty women messed up with food. He mentioned, in particular, a whole magazine dedicated to this called Splosh. I was amazed! Apparently, I was not the only one who had this fetish. Up until that point I was convinced I had to be the lone person who had this crazy fetish Well, I went to my huge desktop with the 14K baud modem and immediately searched for "Splosh" and, well, that was that. Opened up a whole new world.
Splosh! parodied the contemporay glamour photography of the late '80s. It went further by not only putting glamour girls on a pedestal but also then proceeding to debase them with mess.
It provided both nourishment to us pre-internet WAM fans (who previously had all thought we were unique in our peculiar drives) and an anarchic backlash to the heavy handed first wave of political correctness that began to dominate the mainstream at that time.
Bill Shipton/Clive Harris worked as a writer for some top shelf magazines so that industry was undoubtedly the main source of both models and photographers.
The style was manifestly somewhere between top shelf and glamour - necessarily within the confines of UK print and video publishing laws at the time (BBFC etc.) Operating legally from this position arguably resulted in an output, whilst less sexually explicit, of a higher quality and creative effort than might have been 'got away with' now.
Bill combined this with role-play sketch comedy - giving the silliness and the 'smut' a relatable alibi (particularly if you wanted to entice a woman to try it). So the result is sexy, light hearted and fun. The totally destroyed women remain tenacious, pull silly faces and huff with mock outrage but, liberated from the social norms, laugh along and appear to be having a whale of a time.
A massive influence on me. Certainly on my own tendency towards 'brutal' messes in a light atmosphere are much influenced by Splosh!
My favourite models have got to be Rachel and Emma. These pictures very carefully chosen to explain why
Great spread of Legends of Splosh pictures LeRex which brought back some nice memories. Unlike the other topshelf mags the Splosh shoots usually started with the models fully clothed and immaculately turned out before meeting their messy fate and losing their outfits in the process. Lovely saucy smut with lots of mock indignity and laughter. What a revelation!
I share Trouso and osbaldeston's view of Emma - a real stunner with her long dark hair. Still remember her margarine shampoo and being amazed that anyone would do that...happy days.
Great to see the old Splosh covers. I remember even before then, Fiesta magazine used to do sets where the models got messy. The recurring one was Tracy of York who was a middle aged woman. I'd have been very young and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I loved it, and I'm still into it today. I've always preferred models being covered in food than slime.
So difficult to make a choice! Lucky enough to have had sessions with several of those girls mentioned. Sammy Jane absolutely got Splosh in her attitude and her unique style; Emma and April for being gorgeous and fun, Debbie from WSM for taking my WAM virginity, and honourable mention to Mouse for being so damned sexy!
Thanks to LeRex for starting this thread and comments from "those that were there" such as Trouso and Sploshman! Happy memories.
Hi all, I'm overwhelmed by the response to this thread. I thank you all for the love on my posts and pictures (it's a pleasure to make them).
I also find it interesting to hear others experiences/ memories of how Splosh magazine/video effected/influenced them. Also finding out who are your fave models.
I believe that Splosh is a milestone in the Wet and Messy fetish. Not only bringing people fun, excitement and pleasure, but also for making people feel excepted in a fetish that non-WAM people find rather odd.
I will continue to make my pictures, and keep the legacy of Splosh alive. The passing of Bill was a great loss, but I will make sure he's never forgotten.
Thanks for all the fantastic Splosh memories from the late 80s and 90s. At one point I had all 40 copies of the iconic mag. So many awesome models, fun and mess. An absolute foundation of tbe WAM world.
Luna (IIRC) covered in syrup... anyone got a photo?
one of my faves was Hayely. she always seemed to love getting messy and even ripping her clothes. in one video she "made a cake" on a supposed $400 suit she was wearing. amazing stuff....

And I believe you were also (impressively) the unseen stage hand at David Glew's studio pouring yoghurt and porridge etc. over Rachel Stevens to Bill's directions atop a stepladder?
Wow, what happy memories this thread brings back. Like others, I was an eager collector of Splosh magazine. Sadly, for reasons of domestic harmony (!), they finally had to go. However they served to show how messy play could be more than just sexy, it could also be fun - even 'funny'.
So, I finally plucked up courage, contacted Bill, and arranged a session with him. As I have mentioned elsewhere on another thread, it was an awesome occasion and one that lives on in my memory. Sadly Bill died soon after, so that was the only time I met him.
I also had the great pleasure of sploshing, and being sploshed by, the amazing Sammy-Jane during the short while she tried valiantly to keep the studio going.
Happy days! Modern splashing produces many many excellent pictures and videos, but for those of us of a certain age, Bill and Splosh magazine will always be the peak of achievement.
Have always said that I would love to see (or do) one day a remake of the infamous final A Few Dollops More Mud scene when a lot of those legends (Sammy, Gilly, Rachel, Amanda, Helen, Jo to name a few) get covered in nothing but thick clay mud from head to toe!!!
I know it's not a full on Splosh production (Bill did have a hand in the shooting of the scene).
But it's STILL very iconic nearly 30 years later or so in my view.

Guilty as charged Trouso! A tough job but someone had to do it!!
Also, how could I forget Hayley and Clown Julie. Hayley's infamous clothes ripping, and the sets from Clown Julie with Sammy and Gilly, she loved to take a pie or two, or three.
