it happened to me today and fortunately i was able to fix it but i got LUCKY.
I had to shower until hot water ran out and my hands, mouth and some other parts (naughty bits) were still stained black and I still had an oily film over me.
I had to take 3 showers throughout the day to get back to semi normal....and then filmed a video using TONS of oil 2 days later. hahahA! needless to say, we ran out of pumice cleaner, my new hair color faded some, we ran out of palmolive and we used draino. it was crazy!! most was my HAIR! it has just gotten so long that any messes i do are CRAZY to my hair. it is VERY THICK! but, it looks so good messy its a love/hate relationship

What you can buy in bulk in the states is blackstrap molasses. In the UK, from what I understand, black treacle is just what we call molasses. You can buy molasses in 5 gallon containers. One place is webstaurantstore.com. Shipping was expensive when I checked it, but they do have a warehouse in Kentucky. Maybe there's a bulk food place around you?

i have been going big since my first custom...it was a tar and feather one with glue, black paint and feathers and my ass had NO IDEA what i was doing with cleanup. the scene seemed easy enough, right? oh god, it was. it was awesome but then i went to clean up and jump in the shower.....

i was digging fucking feathers out of our pipes with a damn curtain rod for hours bc my idiot ass didn't know any better!

i swear the stories i have of doing CRAZY amounts and CRAZY substances without thinking about the clean up AT ALL before i start making and filming are HILARIOUS. I need to start a blog. lol XD like the cake batter can video? omg.

For potential Crisco users>> I have done Crisco maybe a dozen times. Here's what I've learned. Avoid bargain brands. Crisco is the smoothest. Especially in cold weather, it goes on more smoothly if you warm it up a bit. Undo the top, put the plastic cover back on, and set in some hot tap water for a bit. The easiest way to get most of it off is to use the edge of a spatula, or better, one of those cheap plastic spreaders one uses for drywall spreading. Just rub the edge over the skin. And if you are really thinking ahead, maybe turn up the hot water temperature a bit. However, when I've done it I am never thinking ahead.

And as Jayce suggested, there are some funny before and after stories apart from the mess.

Also, Vaseline is much harder to get out of hair.

I've heard that Dawn dish-washing liquid works quite well for cleanup after overly greasy WAM sessions. What did YOU use Jayce??

for this one i used A SHIT TON of dawn, orange pumice cleaner (the stuff mechanics usually use on their hands) and a FUCK FUCK ton of bar soap and a LOOOOOOT OF CONDITIONER. (oh, and like 7 different shower poofs, i kept having to throw them away as i was cleaning myself. lol) conditioner actually helps after you get the initial 2500 layers of mess off of you, to smooth the pores of your hair and to take the rest of the mess off your hair. i learned this when i used mehron mixed with baby oil GEL instead of just baby oil or olive oil.
my hair literally turned silver. went to the salon. with a silver head of hair. the stylists were even crying FOR ME bc they had no idea how to fix it but once they did a heat treatment on my hair (basically just put a lot of heat on my hair) and then they used conditioner on each chunk of hair and just massaged it vigirously, (the spelling is wrong there...) the silver started to come off my hair....because the conditioner just helped smooth it off!
ALWAYS BUY LOTS OF CONDITIONER FOR CRAZY HAIR MESSES! EVEN IF IT IS CHEAP IT HELPS SO MUCH!!
this was a custom and i am so grateful that the guy got it...hes great! but after he got in on the 25 percent off sale and after all the stuff i had to buy and use damn near all of it and the shoes getting ruined and my buckets could NOT get clean...had to throw away my stool....lol i was like...shit...i should have charged more XD TOTALLY KIDDING. but we are never really financially sure of what might happen. lots of draino was bought bc my hair mixed with this stuff kept falling out too...i am happy to have the experience and i am really glad this guy came to me to do it! I will gladly go through hell in clean up to enjoy this kind of extreme mess again!

the oily stuff is the hardest though like crisco, oil itself, mehron is difficult, icing is a bitch to get cleaned off too! whew!
and mud....with mud it just keeps coming...once you think you got it all off, you rinse your hair again and there comes more mud!

i have had some ppl find me huge amounts of tate and lyle black treacle, i am just finding someone who loves it enough to buy me a large amount of it so i can do a scene in just this stuff!! like a LOT OF IT!!

and you get the scene done for free, as long as we can agree to some terms on the scene since i wont be making money on it, i would like to be able to sell it since i have to pay for tarps and clean up and camera ppl and whatnots
