The scene from "Jackie Gleason: The Great One" 1988 documentary where Jane Curtin gets pied is well known.
However, up until recently there was only one online clip of it (see here: https://umd.net/forums/jane-curtin-pied).

The fade-out while the tins are still slipping down her face always kills me with this clip. Great pie sandwich, no aftermath. Bad combination.

This remains one of the Top 5 most disappointing scenes in TV history, IMHO. (Talking *actual* pie scenes, not scenes where the woman should've gotten messy but stayed clean.)

Not Curtin's fault... She was an absolute trooper for doing this, but all that commitment was completely wasted, thanks to the world's most ill-timed fadeout. Tons of mainstream scenes would be vastly improved with some BTS footage, but none more than this one....

So I was looking for some BTS shots from this special and came across an interesting find. This image appears to show another pie scene that was filmed, but never aired. It's definitely from the same special as she's wearing the same outfit, but it's clearly only one pie. On the plus side, at least we now get to see a little bit of aftermath!

There's a really cute woman in the background. turns neon that she's laughing at Jane's demise. Would have liked to see her get it.

Good to know they essentially did a redo to properly nail her and still did a fade to black. Just imagining they did 20 takes to get the perfect one and still fucked the editing lol.
