Although the points on shaving cream are all valid nothing in my opinion beats the splatter of real whipped cream! Also the taste and smell of shaving cream take away a bit for me. I use both depending on what my mood is, willingness for lengthy clean up and potential rancid smell. For a quick wam fix shaving cream for the win though.
Shaving cream makes a better mess and doesn't smell, but I'm not a fan. It just doesn't feel like a wam substance for me. Whipped cream does, but there are obviously far better things to get messy with.
I prefer seeing cool whip, so if I'm getting AimMe messy I will use that. She also prefers this so that's a plus. If she's getting me messy though, I would rather use shaving cream mixed with some water. I'm on meds that effect how my body controls it's temperature so if things are cold it really ruins the whole session unfortunately. It sucks, cuz I do prefer cool whip, but my body can't handle how cold it is.
Real cream is awesome, but you walk around smelling like spoiled milk no matter how much you scrub.
Better is non-dairy whipped topping. If you check foodservice stores/sites you can find stuff better than CoolWhip. Rich's On Top is what Messygirl uses. My favorite is a powdered mix called Chefs Choice or something like that. Comes in a case of 12 1lb bags. Each bag makes 5qts, or 15 gal for a full case, for like $65. You need a stand mixer or a mixing paddle on a drill, but it's the thickest, creamiest, tasty stuff ever. You can leave it out for hours without it melting, so you don't need to use it ice-cold if you have time for it to warm up.. https://roundeyesupply.com/products/chefs-companion-wip-it-whipped-topping-mix-12-1-lb-619081
Always whipped cream now.... And yes, non-dairy whipped topping is the way to go. I used that Chef's Choice occasionally.... Tastes great, a little bit thin for my tastes, but good bang for the buck. (Although Amazon doesn't carry it anymore.)
I used shaving cream a TON back in the old days.... But honestly, at low 480p resolution, it looked fine and got great coverage. Once 1080p became the norm, shaving cream got fazed out.... because it looks fake on camera, but also because SO many models complained. (Not sure if Barbasol changed their formula in the last decade, but apparently eye-stinging and skin-burning are now bad side effects of using SC pies.) You don't know HOW many potential models now ask, "You don't use shaving cream, do you?" Once I assure them that everything I use is real, and edible, and tastes wonderful.... Then they're 100% on board.
Gotta be whipped cream. While I have used and enjoyed shaving cream in the past but because a lot of it is soap based it feels like it's not really "messy". There just something about real whipped cream or cool whip
We started out with cool whip pies and didn't try shaving cream until we found out from Bigshipper in 2015 about the mixing of corn syrup to give it a gloppy look. We used it for a while, but felt it wasn't fair for the models to deal with, so we went to our current whipped topping formula. Ironically Amy didn't mind the shaving cream corn syrup mix and preferred it over cool whip. She would even let it go in her mouth for spit takes.

You gotta use ice water, Rich, then it's the thickest fluffiest stuff going. Still gloopy, but you can really layer it on. Tap water just isn't cold enough to make it whip properly
Shaving cream for me. If you mix a small amount (very small) of water and whip it up in a bucket, you can make several pies that look creamy. Add crust and it's perfect for me.

Amy retired from modeling and is now a very successful wedding photographer.

Yes, flour paste is amazing for the look and coverage, it is so sticky! But use with caution, it can form gluten balls that stick to hair and are hard to remove! This shoot was done with a swim cap under the wig, and the leotard and tights covered most other body hair! Cleanup isn't as bad as some say, as long as cold water is used to soak clothing first. Alternatively use besan flour, bit smelly, and yellowy in colour, but very, very easy cleanup! The yellow picture is besan flour.
