This is a football myth, clubs really don't think like this. Each club make around 7.5%- 15% (if lucky) commission for each shirt sold, with the majority going to the man-u-facturer (see what i did there). Liverpool's £30m a year deal sees them take 20% which is massive so say they sold a million shirts at £80 that's only £16m which hardly covers Mohammad Salah's annual wage. Man Utd signed a 10 year £750m deal with Adidas who will double their money and don't care who's name is on the back as long as you buy the shirt. I agree about Pogba, he never quite delivered for Man Utd yet when i've watched him play for France he's always played well.
Yeah, I'm aware they don't get a huge cut (even 10 million is still a huge amount of money in general terms though), but signing big names is still part of a wider 'marketing' operation to suck in glory hunters to merch and TV subscriptions and whatever else. I come across 'fans' on the other side of the globe who've never been anywhere near Manchester or London but who claim to be loyal supporters because they like so-and-so who will be off to another superclub in a few seasons.
For sale is good, maybe we can get someone who cares more about the sport and the players than making money! As for Ronaldo, well, the team is finally doing great and I am sure that they can keep it up without him! Go Man U

While some of you may be happy with the idea of it going up for sale, the 2 most likely purchases so far are (and then a couple of left field bid that seems to be being talked about)
1 - "sir" Jim Ratcliffe - a United supporting chelsea season ticket holder, who most recently decided to build his car in France after the brexit he so wanted, and loads of tax payer money had been spent doing work in the area he had been in active negotiations in (based on other evidence, it sounds like he didn't get the massive tax exemptions he had wanted, and his brexit dream didn't work out). Also moved one of his companies off shore to avoid paying UK tax.
2 - Dubai International Capital - because another football club owned by a country is just what sport needs...
3 - Apple - Presumably as they think it is a way to bring some of that money on hand in China back into play
4 - Amazon - because they seem to be wanting to buy everything. Can't see the FA allowing them to own a club and TV broadcast rights
