I've been here 24 years according to my profile, and I still check the messy forum and latest downloads almost every day.
I'm proud to be one of the mentioned 18 still active. I'm in this for life, and will always love it immensely. God bless the UMD, all the beautiful messy people who share their love for WAM, and God bless all of you

I wish I was here since the beginning I've always been into wam The site itself is a painting for those intentions on my end.
Not sure the numbers yr wise add up directly to peoples experience with wam. But I think the older members on here have the best stories to share about how the community formed and is still forming and how the folks before hand who helped build everything up become legend in their own way. Those are cool things to learn about.
I was a lurker for around a decade before I registered a profile. One of the main reasons was that I didn't have an online computer at home for surfing for this kind of thing until I was about 30. And then when I did I lived a very different life - one where I was married to my first wife and firmly in the closet.
Although WAM has been a lifelong fascination I was also quite late to discover that WAM was a sexual thing for others - and not just an affliction I alone suffered from. The gateway for many my age was ads for Splosh! etc. in porn mags but since I've never been interested in conventional porn I never saw them.
One thing I would tell the 18 year old me (aside from some choice future investment tips!) would be that, no, you don't grow out of it - don't be afraid.
Yep. I'm another 24er. Don't post much these days. I remember going through a bad patch in UMD when there was a lot of hostility to those of us who are 'diverse', which is kinda mad when you think how odd the whole process of WAM is - anyone into WAM should appreciate diversity!
That's when Wamdrogony and Bill Shipton's Splosh sites provided much-appreciated refuge. When the former closed and Bill died, I came back and found things were much better ... though I don't get the opportunity to indulge much in actual WAM these days. (Too busy and too many creaky joints preventing me from doing what I used to enjoy!)
Remembering the happy times and thanking MM for keeping things going!
In the words of the great Canadian scholar Red Green "You can't stay young, but you can at least stay immature!".
I always like to think of Leslie Nielsen as I get older. That guy was old (I can't ever remember him being young), but he was always taking on immature and goofy roles, outside of movies he'd always make it a point to carry around a fart bag everywhere he went, and it was the absolute best.

I'm one of them too! If we were supposed to outgrow this, I never got the memo either - if you're still having fun with it, keep having fun with it
And yes, I remember the days of usenet alt.sex.fetish.wet-and-messy too..
I lurked since pretty damn close to the beginning. I think my other (first) profile still exists here somewhere. I only came out of the closet when MM invited us out to fishtown back in 2016 for the 18th.
I guess it depends on how you're defining "active" - I'm one of the 24-year veterans (my parents got the internet for the first time in the summer of '98, and I think I discovered the UMD within that first month!), but according to my profile I've "only" posted 72 times in the past 8 years (my history only goes back to 2014). So does posting 9-10 times per year on average make one "active" or "inactive"...?

I've also been here 24 years! 18 active seems like a REALLY low number! What's your threshold for "relatively active"? I read a LOT but don't post all that often.
I don't think anyone is "supposed" to outgrow this per se, but some just... move on? Maybe the fetish just became not as strong for them. The vibe here has definitely changed. Some may have found that UMD didn't match what they wanted anymore. Maybe they got burned by a producer or some bout of drama that occurs here occassionally (though honestly, fairly rarely IMHO).
I've been here at least 10 years through two different accounts. I can honestly say I won't ever grow out of it. In fact my lady and I really hope to get more into WAM soon.
Also one of the 18 Wonder if Messmaster will give us a Gold watch or something when we reach 25
I think before the smart phone invention, browsing the umd needed a more dedicated space where you can navigate in privacy, so probably this limited the numbers in the early days?? I think back in 98 right after finding the UMD, and all the doors it was opening my next search was for how to delete browsing history and cache, and finding ways to hide files on the computer .
Even though my profile says I've been here 15 years, I've been here longer than that.
I was here under the moniker "Pie Guy" originally. When MM switched over to a new server, I couldn't get it to work. So I changed to this name.
I wouldn't be surprised if others had the same issue and have been here longer than their profile says.
I vaguely remember something like that happening where I had to create a new profile. Actually met Messmaster in the early days of the UMD and he helped host pics of my then girlfriend Antoinette (aka: Messy Toni) on his server. He even shot his first sploshing video at my house back in the day! Ahh, memories...
I found the site in fall 1998, linked from some wearing and it might have been on geocities then. Didn't bother registering until over a decade later when I had to in order to see something I think.
And OMG Messy Toni, she was one of the first people whose pictures I remember seeing!
24 years ago, I wore an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time...
So me and Mrs Bee didn't start posting till somewhere between 2002-2004, I don't recall which year.
What I do recall is that I was so new at this, I effed it up my first post and uploaded a bunch of "x's" as the images didn't load and someone responded something to the effect of "nice x's, asshole". Riot. First posts were of Mrs. Bee (before she donned the persona) in the shower with the standard issue taped-up garbage bags behind. I think we avoided the white plastic chair, but just barely.
Much thanks to Skirtpie for posting this and of course to MM who keeps the trains running on time!

lol, I remember the UMD being a bit more combative (if that is the right word) back in the day. This is a very nice and welcoming forum now, but it used to be a bit more rough. Maybe that is why I held off posting until recently (I also had a lot less privacy then). I recall some "feuds" between various posters. Chainsaw John was a bit of a polarizing figure.
For some perspective, most social media is getting on for 20 years old now. Facebook and Youtube if I recall rightly were launched in 2006, blogs even earlier than that. I was able to find a goldmine of WAM clips I thought I'd never see again by the spring of 2007.
Not WAM related, but THIS is my workspace. Point being, is that it firmly states what I like/love and no one is going to give me any shit for it no matter how old I get.
In the words of the great Canadian scholar Red Green "You can't stay young, but you can at least stay immature!".
Red Green is one of those things I've never outgrown myself. I'm going to be 42 this year and I'm not a day over 21 in my brain. I will never outgrow the things I love. I have been a wammer for as long as I can remember, but I only just discovered my sexuality and I'm still exploring it, so at this point in my life, I'm looking at the old things I've grown with in completely new ways. I can't imagine ever not getting excited when I look at a bakery display or a huge mud puddle
I've been here, uh... a while. I have definitely not outgrown this.
I don't post a lot because I'm ADHD and I have a LOT of hobbies... so if I'm not focused on WAM at the moment I'm probably working on a 3-foot model of the starship Enterprise, making a mixed-reality VR video, or working on the next episode of my urban fantasy audio podcast.
I don't remember exactly how long I've been here but if I go back to when I was "legally" allowed to browse adult sites, I would say we're getting close to 20 years, believe it or not--and I don't believe it. I remember when there was no store, the mud girl was the logo, all the videos were in .wmv or even RealPlayer format, and sites that are celebrating their 10-, 15-year anniversaries were upstarts still sending physical media for [site redacted due to updated terms--Jesus Christ...] payments.
Some people outgrew it, some people got bored with it, some people got so overwhelmed with a sense of shame that they try to cold turkey it (not before always blaming us for their shame for some reason). WAM is still the best to me, but I've refined my taste so much that I'm not really interested in most of what goes on around here, so I semi-lurk.
IDK why yours is showing the wrong timeline as mine has usually stayed pretty accurate. there are so many of us on here....just a glitch i presume. I bet if you tell mm there is probably a way to restart your clock and put how long you have been here...
but hell no it aint too long! yeeeeeet! i love it!
Well, I had to create a whole new account. So that's probably why my year count is where it is.
MM could probably adjust it, but it's not worth it for the trouble he'd have to go through. I don't post here enough anymore to bother.
Sorry you had to go through all that trouble with the folks in your town about something you so enjoy.
It kinda makes you sound like the mom in that classic song "Harper Valley P.T.A" where the town accused her of doing things that made her an unfit mother and she went to a PTA meeting and told them off.

I actually met a playmate on ASFWAM! We still see each other at cons sometimes, and one of her bucket list items is to turn me into a giant Swiss Roll via full-sheet chocolate cakes. Here's hoping!
