Are the nominees limited to the UMD, or can they be messy producers / models from outside? For example SploshMuffin is a high profile splosher who produces great material but doesn't necessarily sell through the UMD. Scenes she has shot with other producers may appear on here, but not her own material.
Nominees can be from anywhere as long as I can get contact with them (because, if they're in the 'final 3', then I need a sub-1 min 'highlights reel' for the clip; and them to be able to do an acceptance speech (preferably in-person but obvs a pre-recorded if they're not in the UI). More on that to follow...
Incidentally PLEASE DO NOMINATE!! (Otherwise I'm sat there 2 weeks before trying to guess what you guys like and I'm not sure that'll end well!! ) Please show your favourite produces lots of love for their work and give them a nomination!!

Thanks Luna! So am I! I think we all need this for varying reasons!
CheekyLuna said: Unfortunately I'll be working but hope you have a fantastic time and it all goes well.
Awww! That's a shame! I was actually going to message you two and ask if you were up for it! Pull a Bueller!!! (I'm joking, obvs. Next time for sure. )
It's very tempting for sure! It's the one weekend of the year I agreed to do overtime so don't think it would go down well. If by some miracle it gets cancelled I'll be there! I think Platypus539 is hoping to come down though.

Yeah, I get that! My fingers are still crossed though!

Well that's some good news at least! Make sure he comes and says hi!
Hey hey people! Questions and house-keeping points:
1. PRODUCERS: You are allowed to self-nominate! During the nomination phase I'm just collecting the details of all the videos that people want to potentially vote for!
2. GUNGE TANK: UMD HIVEMIND! Who does gunge tank hires these days? (I will have the gunge, I just need the tank for use at the venue on the day.)
3. NETTIIQUETE: Because I don't use UMD as much as I should, SHOULD I keep it all in one thread? Or should I split it periodically for new updates?
10/5/25, 8:58pm: No-bump reply
10/13/24, 11:40pm: This post won't bump the thread to the top.
This does sound amazing and I am very sorry to find myself already committed elsewhere and unable to attend. I am sure it will be sensational though and can't wait to hear all about it from those lucky enough to be there! Thanks Jim for organising.

Oh mate, that sucks! Sorry you can't make it! You are going to miss a treat!!
I pledge to you, however, that I will personally ENSURE there'll be plenty of fun stories for you to enjoy catching up on! I can't say fairer than that!

ALSO, I've just had it pointed out to me that there is no 'BEST FEMALE PERFORMER" category. It turns out there wasn't one in the old Messtival categories and I think that was due to the prevalence of female models in the awards anyway.
I think in the interests of balance and respect we should have one, so I'm putting that category in.
(The down-side is that now your acceptance speeches are going to start to sound like Eminim Rap God! )
Just to give the thread its own avatar, this is the award Maude won for us at Messtival 2022, which now has pride of place in the Great Hall inglenook (this photo was taken in a very posh London pub with very shiny tables, the day we won it).
Also a suggestion: Limit any one producer to no more than two or three awards. At the first Messtival, one producer walked off with at least a dozen gongs, effectively denying lots of others a chance of winning something. It would have been nice if they could have been shared out for a more diverse winners list. This is not a criticism, rather a "can we improve this for the community" suggestion.

AH! That's how you give a thread an avatar on here!
A very well deserved award I'm sure and glad it has pride of place in the 'nook! (* makes notes to request extra shiny London pub tables in the bar *)

That too is a good idea. I think limiting to 3 awards for a 'hat-trick' is probably a sound plan!

By default, the thread avatar is the last image (if more than one image uploaded), from the first post in the thread that has images in it. If it's the first post, you can Edit it and select a different image from that post as the "main" one which becomes the thread one, not sure if that works when it's a second or later post though.
Whenever I create a poll or similar, I always include a neutral image to prevent anyone trying to influence the poll by adding their own thread image.

LOL!
I thought the "golden gunge bucket" awards from Messtival II were absolutely brilliant, I believe Penny applied all the "spilled green gunge" by hand herself so every one is different. I never expected we'd win anything, so it was an enormous privilege when we did. Was also great when the room burst out laughing at Maude's antics in the mud in the showreel too. Memory and a half!

Wow, what a load of work and personal effort you're investing into this. Thanks! Would love to be able to support you by turning up on the day, but sadly that weekend's out. Marvellous to have an in-person event of this nature and trust other UMDers can show their support by making it a capacity crowd!
Look forward to hearing how it went and hope everyone attending has a fabulous time!
I'm wishing I had a Time Machine because I booked and paid for tickets for something else some where else in the evening. There's so many people I haven't seen for years going to this.

Hey hey! Long time, no see! Hope you're good!
That is a shame! Can you not haggle with the ticket touts? Go on! Give 'em hell! (As a Londoner, you have my full permission to do it in an Eastenders style too! RIIIIICKKKEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! I am goin' to blloomin' MESSTIVAAAAAAALLLL!!)
