okay, so, we have been messing around with bit rates and whatnot to try to provide the BEST quality video and keep it around 700-800 mgs....or under that if we can....but, we have noticed a difference in the quality when you take your bit rate down so low....plus, our editors, since we do such LONG vids, we can take bit rates down to the lowest and still have a a vid that is 500 to 600 mgs....

here is my question...when you see a vid of mine...and it is, lets say, 750 mgs...do you skip purchasing that video bc of your internet speed? or space??

should i put up vids that compromise the quality of the video but are smaller for an option??

we do all we can to just keep it simple and have ONE VID that yeah, we do have to compromise quality at times for quantity...(we have really long vids!) but mostly we try our best to put out the best we can and keep it under what M.M. would like it to be. understandably.

would you all PREFER a lower mg option with your purchase if you have slow internet or less space on your computer ?

also, if you have low space, may i suggest a purchase, at walmart, they are around 80 bucks now, they hold a terabyte and i have 2. i have not even BEGUN to fill ONE. THEY WILL HOLD UP SO WELL. they are fantastic if you have a shortage on space. if you live over seas, order one off walmart.com!!

anyway, please leave a comment if you would like somethign like this...another vid option with your purchase, the quality WOULD be compromised some, but the rate and the size of vid would be smaller....

I don't buy 4K videos (don't have a proper screen where enjoy them) and my threshold is 2-3 GB

Things I'll base a purchase decision on:

• What the models are wearing.
  
• How well I can see them getting messy (judged from previews + any prior purchases).
  
• How they get messy - method and technique.
  
• Image quality in preview pics and trailer.
  
• Price (both total and price-per-minute).

When I buy something I'm looking for quality video, both in terms of how it's shot (no silly zooming in that cuts out half the money shots) and how detailed the image is - if someone is having mess poured into their clothes I want to be able to see the damp stains and marks as it starts to leak / soak through the fabric.

I've no problem downloading 2, 3, or 4GB files, and as you say hard disks are incredibly cheap these days, so it's no problem to add extra storage to keep a collection on.

I have a couple of your scenes and the video quality was fine, as was the filming, the outfits, and the mess.

awe thanks! i know that my scenes quality has gotten better over the past year or so...much much better as i switched cameras.

there are some older ones i did as well, where i used ariels camera (same as the one i have now) that are good too. the older cam i had, was a little grainer but, it still did the job.

but this is all good to hear bc editing 3 different sizes and whatnots does take up a lot of time and getting them uploaded and whatnot.

its nice to just have everything in one download...we have had to compromise quality on a few bc of sizes so i have decided that if something is so big that i have to compromise it GREATLY, then i am just gonna break it into two parts. especially if it is something that has some really important parts of the mess that i feel render me doing this for. when a video is very specific to something id like to have it to where i can do it in FULL rather than cut it down a bit....breaking it into two parts, i can actually do that. otherwise, yay! i am really glad to hear this stuff.

if anyone has any other issues, please feel free to let me know! and thanks for purchasing my stuff. it really means a lot to keep the house of mess still afloat! i love doing this stufff and without buyers, we couldnt keep on! we have to cut down custom costs bc of other ppl doing them so cheap sometimes that we really do rely on sales. very much appreciated!

I always look more at the quality of the content, rather than the quality/size of the video.

If there is good work, filming, messing in a video - that will always trump the quality (bit rate) of the video (to a degree anyways!)

That being said, personally i would have no issue if a half hour video was 2GB if it was a good quality version with a higher bitrate. I've bought videos from some sites in 4K that are 10 minutes and over 1GB in size, but if shot correctly the resolution and file size definitely adds to the overall quality of the package.

this is good to know! now, we cant put anything up on here that is over a gig...for sale but i COULD start doing our longer vids in full bit rates and they will be close to 2 gigs. usually a 20 min vid is around 1.45 gigs and keep it on the backburner if ppl want to purchase those versions on their own. bc tis true, and i understand it 100 percent bc m.m. pays for bandwidth, that we dont have the luxury of putting those up like that. not in full, we would have to cut them up into probably 3 or 4 pieces to put up for sale here, which would be a big hassle.

so, i think i may start doing that, having a full version of the highest bit rate and give that option. also, start doing that with customs if people want their custom in that rate!

I think if a video was ordered as a custom then the highest quality version should be given out (not the raw version but high bit rate) then a lowered down version made available for sale in the store

Guess the only thing on size that I would care about ... if it seems too small.

The whole reason for buying videos - at least for me - is visual art / visual stimulation....well, that and a second being good audio - especially if there is any mud splattering going on.

If the vid has compression artifacts, or the audio is garbled, then that detracts from the art just as much as walking through a gallery with blurry glasses on, or going to a concert with some cell phone constantly going off.

So bottom line, I don't worry about the size being too big... actually prefer it. (wow - did not mean that to sound slutty, but ?!? )

The counterpoint to all this is two fold:

1) bandwidth costs money... yours and mine. Personally, I don't come close to using all of mine and even if I did, what is a few extra bucks or waiting a few extra days for the new month to download some AWESOME mud videos. But running a server on your end, with files running multiple GB's each?

2) Compression also costs money. Maybe some of the quick/dirty/poorer compression algorithms are fairly fast, but some of the more modern compression algos which maintain the quality and notably shrink the file size are pretty processor intensive which means more money / computing power to drive the compression.

Either way, my vote is more quality...even if it costs me more to buy ...and F- the file size, I'll work around it!

Be sure to PM me the moment I can buy 4K UHD 360 Dolby Surround VR with Jayce + Ariel + Dixie having a mud fight...on my lap. Or especially if you need a stand-in actor for 'the lap'

I'm for quality - 720p or 1080p. I'm not so keen on 1080i videos since they often show interlace artifacts when you pause the video. And I also appreciate videos that have a higher bit-rate for greater clarity.

I understand that such files will be larger but I am patient enough to wait while the files download and the cost of huge hard drives (1 or 2 TB) is quite reasonable.

I don't however buy 4K videos, since I don't have a monitor that supports 4K. - maybe someday!

While on the topic of hard drive space, and only going a little off-topic, I strongly advise all of you to buy sufficient extra drives to back up your collection!

these little walmart ones that are about 80 to 90 bucks that hold a terabyte SINCERELY do the trick! i have two of them....a back up and a back up...lol. and they have held up through like 4 moves, and travel, they are in a protective case that comes with it. they are 2 legit to quit!

but i am liking what i am hearing! and yes, i agree that the higest quality should be sent out as customs. for sure. i know i have failed to do that as i have made it the same quality as for the store bc i figured ppl didnt want to wait longer for their download. i have had some ppl complain about how long it takes me to transfer it to them and im like "yo, i dont run the transfer system, yalls, its coming!" lol. but those are few and far between. okay! i have a better idea now and i appreciate all of this!!!

we do everything in 1080 1920 so, yeah, the bit rates are high af and its hard to get it right with compression and fps and all that but i have been learning since i edit on my own...its trial and error. luckily we havent released any vids that look like total shit in our "trials and errors" lol. XD

My internet stinks, I have limited internet, Hughes Net. When I download certain videos, it eats up my bandwidth.

i do most of the editing of our wetlook vids right now so just let myself or ariel know (bc she is learning and she will be doing some too...and we can always make sure you get a smaller size. the quality will be compromised some, but with our cameras and lighting, it wont be too much.

At times when I download videos from the site, it will download about 50 to 75% then says error, got to try to re download it at times and it really eats the bandwidth, I even tried the recommended player and browser to download.

With as cheap as space is these days, I can't see that being an issue. The internet speed could be an issue. I know it might be hard, but my recommendation is one in SD and one in HD. I will be honest, when I have had those options, I will download the SD version and see if I like it. If I like it, I will download the HD version. If I don't like it as much I will keep the SD version of the video. For size and what not, have you thought about using h.265 for your file encoding? It will make it much smaller and retain the quality. It does require a plugin to play in VLC, but most people are using that already.
