Just an FYI..... With the recent price surging of the good Keebler crusts (not the generic crap ones).... And factoring in about 75% of a tub of Cool Whip per pie.... The cost of 20 real pies will run you about $85.80 (before tax).
Part of the reason why you're not seeing many 20-pie barrages these days.
I'd say 5 is the bare minimum for a barrage, and to be a true barrage, there shouldn't be more than a second between pie hits. A just saw Hot Mess's new video, and it's excellent, but I would not consider it a barrage because of the timing. The timing in the Johnny Carson clip above would work, but as there were only 3 pies, I wouldn't consider that a barrage either. The effect a true barrage should overwhelm the target as they try to react but are continuously interrupted in even the simplest expressions of surprise and frustration.

Store brand cool whip is usually sub $1. Are you using the real stuff?
