I apologize for answering point-for-point, but it's a lot to remember.
1. How specific are your scripts? Do you give a broad idea of what you want and let the producer have lots of creative freedom?
I have very specific events that need to happen, and a general notion of a plot. I don't write the dialogue.
2. Do you mandate that it MUST be a certain model(s)?
Yes! I only do customs when I like the model.
3. How often are you disappointed in your final product?
Very rarely. Never from a WAM producer. I am also satisfied about 85% of the time by models that aren't WAM models doing WAM.
4. What is your limit as to how much you can afford price-wise?
Probaly 2-3 Benjamins.
5. For pie -people, do you insist on the kind of pie?
I prefer real pies with fruit and squirty cream to cool whip, shaving cream, or things that look way thicker than food, and cover so much as to prevent me from seeing the model that I paid to do the shoot. Some pie messes are so thick I wonder if the customer would know the difference if they had swapped out the model for, say, Quasimodo under all that cream.
I will only do customs if I can have a say in the model(s). Why would I want to spent big $$ on seeing an unattractive girl get WAMMED?
I am pretty specific about most details except dialogue. They are usually not actresses anyway and I want the dialogue to sound natural.
I have learned that I need to specify what kind of pie I want - namely something sticky and white with some color mixed in via say, pudding or blueberry pie filling.
I am often disappointed in one aspect or another but am never pissy with the producer about it. They usually tried hard and the reason they got something wrong was that I wasn't specific about that particular detail.
I generally dislike providing scripts and I avoid it unless the producer really insists on it.
That said, I have found it is really important to get certain agreed upon terms in writing so I can refer to it later if there's an issue. Really the only deal breaker for me is if the substance is wildly wrong or the girl isn't who I expected.
There have been unforeseen changes, such as one time I ordered a custom from a model who, unbeknownst to me, recently got huge fake tits (which I hate). It wasn't enough to ruin the video, but it reminded me of something I never thought to ask about.
There are a lot of things that you want, but don't know you want them until you are confronted with their absence. It's hardly the producer's fault that they cannot surmise all of your unconscious desires. That said, I think most producers here understand that there is a specificity to fetishism, so if you say green slime and you get chocolate brownie batter, that's a little problematic.
As such, I'm pretty forgiving about the first video, and sometimes the second. If the second show promise, I will go to a third. But if the producer doesn't get you by the third, you're wasting your money.
$200 to $300 seems to be the average around these parts, depending on various factors. There are a few particular things that could probably get me to cough up more money, but only from a producer I really trust.
I just posted on the custom I did with Ariel and Maria. I will provide more detail in a couple of days but right now I'm still in the afterglow of getting the custom. I'll reply more to this thread once I post my through review this weekend. However in terms of Ariel and Maria I can say
I rarely do customs for the reasons mentioned above.... There's a LOT of factors that need to be right, and I don't necessarily like the pressure of trying to nail someone else's specifics. (The other reason is that most custom requests I get tend to be stuff I don't want to shoot, or I don't feel comfortable asking the models to do it.)
That said, when someone approaches me with an idea that's in my wheelhouse... and wants to use a model I shoot regularly... Then things happen. I've been getting a few of those lately so I've actually got a few customs planned! (And the best part is, you probably won't even KNOW they're customs... They fit nicely into our usual aesthetic.)
