Just got back from England, Manchester specifically. Several immigrants and 1 set of refugees from Ukraine all told me they got a free cell and a place to live. The people from Ukraine have been my friends for 4+ years, why would they lie?

An anecdote that you just happened to remember 2 days after your claim.

All intertactions with the government in the UK are now done on-line, as it's way more efficient (and so less cost to the taxpayer) that paper forms and manual handling. Because of this, the government does provide basic smartphones to those who need to interact with government services, including assylum seekers. But don't imagine they're getting top of the line Samsungs with unlimited contracts, rather they get something cheap and basic with very restricted facilities and tightly locked-down access. And of course the provider gets a nice little earner off the government.

Also, and very stupidly, assylum seekers aren't allowed to work. This is idiotic as most of them could be making a positive contribution and "working their passage", some of them are doctors or engineers, people we could definitely make use of. But that means they are provided with accomodation, and a pittance to live on, while they wait for their claims to be processed. Of course the landlords owning the accomodation make a fortune off the government contracts, but when most Tory and many other party MPs are also landlords, this should surprise people about as much as the sun rising in the east does.

A special scheme was set ip for Ukranians when the war began. Of course as white europeans they don't set off the same level of racism that's directed against brown people, which is what most of the current far right ranting is about.

I agree. I would like to point out that EVERY person that is/has been born in the Americas is descended from immigrants. The only difference is when. In fact, based on mitochondrial DNA studies, this might be true of every continent except Africa.
