I had a great time at the splunch, despite not feeling 100%.
I was so excited to meet Kacie! And it was great to meet Rev at long last! They were both really nice & friendly, as was everyone else! I'm so glad we made the journey, it was well worth it And as you can see, the meal was good fun too!
Falkor, I'm really sad to hear about your experience. Mr JnC and I arrived early and the pub was already busy. It's always tricky to arrange a splunch on a day people can make it, because inevitably everyone else is out too! We were so glad to see that Sploshed was already there, as there weren't any other free tables and he had one in (what was at that time) the quieter end of the pub. As people left tables around us we nabbed them and gradually took over a relatively large area. Although, admittedly, I stayed at one end of our tables for most of the evening, I was aware that the group at the other end had spread round the corner. At one point there were several empty seats in the middle for a while, but I'm not sure what time that was. I actually asked a few people if you'd shown up, because you'd been on the list but I hadn't seen you, and I was told you'd been and gone already! So you were missed by those of us who didn't get to talk to you. I hope the next one is a much less stressful experience for you.
Mike, you can rest assured that Jeremy drank plenty of gin on your behalf!
It was my first splunch (was convinced by my partner togo) and really enjoyed myself. Yes the pub was busy but with so many there we eventually seemed to take over Was there for the discussion of a North-west splunch and the 10th june was suggested. And hopefully I will be going. Was great meeting such delightful people. Caz xx
Thank you to all who came and organized the 'Splunch'. Our first one. Some very interesting conversations and lovely people. Made me want to get back into producing again. XX
Makes me think I must get to a Splunch some time (couldn't have made this one anyway). If you wanted somewhere near the centre of the country, there's always Derby or Nottingham. Both cities on the mainline railways, near the M1 and plenty of good pubs and hotels. (and near Robin Hood land and the Derbyshire Peak District for any outdoor types who want to make a few days break of it).
How did I miss this? I always seem to be busy when a Birmingham splunch is going on, but I was free last weekend and somehow completely oblivious this was happening.
