I've been scammed a couple times before but never quite like this.
I paid Lum (https://umd.net/lumlumxx) $675 for a custom video with two girls and lots of water and slime over two months ago. On March 31 she filmed it* and said it would be ready in a couple of weeks. That was 8 weeks ago and she hasn't responded to a single Twitter DM or email since then - even though she's continued to tweet. So she's just ignoring me hoping I'll forget I paid her a ton of money for this custom. I have the emails and screenshots of all our Twitter messages. I won't forget.
This is why I insist on paying through Manyvids from now on for everything. I can file a dispute and get a refund there after 30 days, if needed.
*I'm fairly confident she did in fact film it because she sent me pictures of the girls making the slime, and the aftermath of a tarped up room with slime splattered all over it. So if it was a grift right from the start, it was an elaborate one.

Custom producers need to get their shit together. This sucks. I'm less apt to buy customs going forward!
Sorry to hear about this. I hope it doesn't put you off customs. From my experience, it's best to stick to established producers. Messygirl, Slymsford. If you don't require nudity then mostwam.
They have established business and UMD sales channel, so it will be the most cost effective and lowest risk way of getting customs.
No approval to discuss customs. Having not been on here since 2019 and having no photos or anything really in her profile would have been a red light for me. I know I'm going to sound like a jerk but it looks like you sort of walked into this one. There's a big difference between real custom producers and this person.
There haven't been this many issues with customs since scumbag Chris was lurking around here pretending to be a woman...or pretending to be a different woman.
He was a producer who started a couple of WAM stores. Then he disappeared and opened them up again. He was asking for investors and I foolishly sent him some money and asked for physical copies which I never got. He did give me access to download videos from his then new websites and I did get some videos but not $300 worth.
He was the clown who brought in Skylar, Selena and Gia who also dabbled in the wam market before either deciding it wasn't worth the hassle or just disappeared. I also fell victim to Selena but I managed to get my money back via Paypal which was good.

Also, there was no evidence that it was actually Michelle, Gia, Selena, or Skylar here. The consensus was he made all the profiles, and posted as them. Funny, since all their videos also had his same style of awful lighting and shit camera work. I'm sure he still lurks here as well.

At least you got videos. All I got were e-mails. I hate Scumbag Chris.
As someone who has done over 50 customs with various producers, I can tell you that I have never been scammed because I always use producers that have a good rep here (Jayce, MG, Sillyfilms, etc) or have established themselves on the web as being very serious about their careers as custom producers (Hannah Perez, Jordana Leigh, Kobe Lee, etc.). They all had tons of stuff online (as evidence of their capabilities) before I approached any of them.
So I hope that this experience with one girl doesn't sour you on the whole concept of getting customs. It should though teach you to vet your potential producers before sending them any money.
Asking this forum or another forum what they think of Producer X is always a good idea.
Gonna agree with what's already been said. Seems you might have walked into this one due to a lack of research. Remember a few of the rules - how active are they? When's the last time they posted here? On their social media?
Back to at least one of my rules: They must have an active Twitter account and must post at least three times a week consistently. If I even see that the last post they made was a week ago, that's a flag something might have changed in their life.

To be fair, she actually is active on https://twitter.com/LumCakes She worked with Messyhot in the past. And the user Oscillator Slop recommended her. We've had discussions before about the various custom videos we've each commissioned (which you can see on Manyvids, so I know he isn't making those up), and he vouched for her.
She isn't in the same category as some of the more obvious scam artists.
To be honest I'm a little insulted by how dismissive everyone is in assuming I'm new to all of this. It just goes to show that no matter how much you think you know or trust someone, you need security.
I'm sorry for your experiences, but I have to ask on this same topic: am I the only person here who had a severe and incredibly disheartening experience with MessyGirl as well?
I see others on here lauding their work, and frankly the first video they did for me was great, but I am literally right now embroiled in having been hosed over so badly, and getting excuse after excuse for why a refund has taken months(!) to receive.
I have given them the opportunity to pay me back, if full, for what has been the absolute worst experience I've ever had with customs before I post the details and report to TOS... it's my hope that they do the right thing and maybe this was a fluke, but given how this whole thing has gone down I don't have my hopes up.

Simply put no you aren't alone, I mentioned in another thread about customs but without specifying who at the time, but as you've asked specifically about MG.
I'm in a similar situation to you albeit I feel somewhat fortunate to have received even some of the refund (in installments) but it's been dragging on a long time and getting each payment is a long and arduous process with many delays and seeming excuses.
It's kind of become a tedious side job chasing up, initially I was grateful to be offered some scene requests/suggestions alongside the refund but even those seemingly haven't come to fruition.
I want to quickly write about a custom experience I had recently with MG that I thought they handled well.
I've done customs through him before (2 x slut soups) then came up with the idea of a guess the mess games show with a ball gag so it was impossible. It was going to be Zoey receiving the mess with Penelope dishing it out, so a 2 girl scene. Unfortunately when it came there had been a problem on the day with who was available on the day and MG had to draft in Rich to do the slopping (so no longer a 2 girl scene). (https://dl.messygirlvideos.com/cgi/autogal.pl?vidnum=tws-75-0961)
While I enjoyed the scene immensely I was disappointed about paying for a 2 girl scene and only getting one girl (although it must be said that Rich did a good job as the smarmy host). I sent an e-mail to MG about this and he immediately offered either a refund of Penelope's fee or producing a new scene with Penelope as the contestant this time. I went with the new scene and fortunately for me but not Penelope, got another great scene out of it. (https://dl.messygirlvideos.com/cgi/autogal.pl?vidnum=tws-75-0966).
I've also had experiences with another producer that has been going on for a while and I understand how frustrating it can be and how annoying having to chase up all the time is. MM has been helpful with this one.
I considered doing customs. No idea what the going rate was
I think if I was going to do them (after registering as a customs provider with the UMD - however you do that), I would probably insist on a one to one video chat first or something, to make sure we were both on the same page as for what you wanted.
My problem with the whole thing is, you can probably never get the video EXACTLY how the purchaser envisioned it in their head, and then does that lead to bad feelings when it comes to the paying? If I made a video and it wasn't exactly what they wanted, then I would feel bad, because it's not through me wishing to defraud anyone. Same time, I would still want paying for my time, materials etc.
Sounds like you got straight screwed, and that sucks. I think I will simply avoid the entire pitfall riddled customs world
Anyway, gotto go, just got a text asking me to pay £17.99 for a DPD delivery that is being held for me.... #ScamParcelTexts

You're right, she is active in that account, although she hasn't posted since the 18th, you paid before then.
And sometimes, there's nothing you did wrong. I got burned a few months back by one of the most active models who worked with a very well-known producer. She was shooting with him constantly and kicking out customs right and left. Zero flags. Zero warning signs. At first, she said she got arrested. Then she said custody issues with her son. After that it was that she's in a state of deep depression. I literally paid her days before she crashed and burned. Even the producer she worked with reached out to help her to no avail.

Good frick'n lord, just how many WAM producers are scamming this community?

I've definitely heard bad things about MG and customs. But it seems like one of those things the umd mafia shuts down pretty quickly.
Yeah I'm a bit lost. We have two members stating that they're having huge issues right at this moment with MessyGirl yet he's not addressing them and instead posting a new thread advertising his newest video.
Wambassador said: I've definitely heard bad things about MG and customs. But it seems like one of those things the umd mafia shuts down pretty quickly.
Much as I'd love to think I'd become a godfather, there really isn't a UMD Mafia. What MM really wants is for people who've had any experience with a custom scene to leave reviews. Good or bad, review it so other people can make a more informed choice. A review doesn't have to be hard to write just basic things like was it delivered on time, was the communication good, did the finished scene contain everything it was supposed to.
I also think it could be useful for customers to kind of make themselves known, so that we get reputation as well. it seems like theres a lot of timewasters who enquire about customs with no intent to follow through.
We also don't hear much about totally unreasonable customers asking for full refunds for minor mistakes and stuff.
I have a custom that could happen with a producer who once took money and ghosted till admin intervened. I'm considering posting a public thread and getting them to reply there, that way all negotiations and script is public, so everything is public for increased transparency. Perhaps this would be a good way to do it. (like publicly post your script and whose doing it, and get them to agree to talk in public once payment is sent)
This will also mean that you as customer cannot be unreasonable about the script, so it protects everyone.
