Turns out that painstakingly booking models for 2 decades, buying supplies, and paying for shoots was the wrong way to make WAM.
MUCH easier to be a nepo baby DJ. Get paid $50K a night to hit "Play" on your 2-hour playlist, jump up and down and pretend you're doing something on your laptop.... Plus random girls in the front row literally bring their own cakes for you to throw in their faces.
Not a bad gig..... Wish my dad had founded Benihana!
Another fun Steve Aoki fact, he used to be part of the youth wing of the Maoist International Movement. Long march through the institutions of power by making mediocre EDM, cheers comrade.
The documentary on him doesn't show him using his families money when he was in a punk or sca band They definitely lived in a project ghetto ass apt and made $ doing house parties
" Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest, superstar DJ. Steve Aoki is the son of the late successful entrepreneur Rocky Aoki, who founded Benny Hannah the restaurant chain. A lot of people assume his dad helps Steve get his career off the ground. That's not the case. In fact, Steve had dug himself into a massive amount of debt trying to get his label off the ground, maxing out credit cards all over the place. He was six figures in the" Ryan seacrest iheart radio interview
His work ethic is insane the year he did his documentary they said he performed almost every day and his doctors forced him to stop working because of the strain he put on his body He also is sober
While I don't dispute the work of noted investigative journalist Ryan Seacrest ( )..... I notice that Steve has definitely made sure the "My father didn't give me a dime to start my career" narrative is all over the Internet. So that's probably accurate. I can buy the being in debt 6 figures as well.
But what no one mentions is that Steve's dad died in 2008.... and left him $50 million. And when does Steve Aoki put out his first album of mediocre EDM and start becoming a big-time festival DJ? 2008.
I believe that two things are true: Steve DID attempt a music career for a decade, without his father's help, and racked up major debt along the way. And then Steve got his inheritance of $50 million from the death of his father, and SUDDENLY his career became WAY more successful, almost as if an overnight influx of cash contributed!
Anyway. He put some of that $50 mil towards cakes to throw at hot girls in skimpy EDM attire, so for that I'll always be grateful.
So he n half sister sued their step mom and won battle in 2014 but didn't get control of trust until they turned 45 so for him was 3 years ago His sister won't have control for about another year So not really true he used his fathers $, also depending on how trust was set up it would need to be a need which if his step mom was removed a bank or different trustee would have to still approve funds and if his does Alvin was 2008 and he was making money they wouldn't have given him tons of money
I've reached a point in my life where I can no longer spend time being annoyed by talentless people becoming successful.
After hearing Dave Blunts, NBA Youngboy, and Quando Rondo it's confirmed that music is dead. I'm gonna crawl into a hole, listen to jazz fusion, throw pies at strippers and not bother anyone.
port city slophouse aren't you busy making the same pie virgin video for the millionth time?
I've made 15 pie virgin videos over an 18 year span. Its not a big deal. There are several producers who have done the same thing hundreds of times longer than me. Also you're wearing a diaper.

Brought to you by the same people who gave you boy bands, Tom Green, took away music from MTV and replaced it with Jerry Springer and Reality TV, we welcome you to the entertainment industry.
Lol I've been here since 1998, and this is the first UMD drama I've been involved with. I'm sorry Dave Blunts, NBA Youngboy, and Quando Rondo objectively suck at making music.
My only experience with Steve Aoki is secondhand thank's to some collabs with Linkin Park in the past. I heard those tracks and had a hearty "MEH" about them. I can't tell you if they're bad or not 'cause they just weren't my thing.
If I want some electronic dance music, I'm happy to return to 1998 and fire up some Prodigy or Fatboy Slim instead. But I don't think either of those acts were known for throwing cakes...
I can't remember any songs called "Cake My Bitch Up" or "The Rockafeller Cake."
(okay I'll stop)
All this cake, there must be a princess somewhere.
