Many of you may not be aware of this, but we had a hurricane hit the Houston area, and it put us out of commission at the moment. We are still without power as of today, but we should have power back by Wed. Once we are up and running, we will have the members site updated and will have new videos on the way. We will also start shooting as well.
Yikes! We might complain about the lack of a summer here - it's currently absolutely chucking it down all across the whole of the North Riding - but at least we don't have hurricanes or tornadoes to worry about. Stay safe, life and health are way more important than site updates.
Sorry to say but its the season! Just started actually and is not over until Nov! Houston was just unlucky with one of the first. Its the ones over 100mph winds that bother me in Florida.
It was around 5 years ago for Irma. 180mph winds for over 24 hours, the destruction was amazing. Hurricanes are the worst because the high wind is sustained and the rain torrential, combine them both and its a nightmare keeping water out of ones home. And you think the insurance companies will pay out? My claim was small at $70K worth of damage and I had to fight them tooth and nail for months before I could even start repairs.
I've been in FL my whole life and the worst one I've had near me was Matthew in 2018. Thing is this storm has a very small area of high winds. We didn't feel much and I'm not even 75 miles away from where it hit. With what I do for a living I don't think I'd have a choice to leave sadly enough if I wanted to, but there'd be no struggle to get back home either.
Thank goodness you're okay MG. Like MudMadPhil I was affected by hurricane Irma 5 years ago as well. But I was living in the central Florida area and not near the coast. A tree fell where I live but it did not landed on my home, and we didn't have any power for about 12 hours or more and it came back.
I'm glad you are safe. Sadly hurricanes are just a big part of southern living. And the aftermath are just a pain in the ass. I remember after Katrina had to rebuild and always be prepared. I hate hurricanes season.
Hi Leah. I am glad you and your people are safe. That's what matters. I'll be saying a prayer for all ya'll. I have a friend who lives near Houston and I'm sure the're out of power too. Maybe some day I can come down there to visit him. If I do, perhaps you would allow me to drop by while you are filming a scene. Perhaps a custom with Penelope and Zoey would be in order. HA!
