Been out of the game (but quietly lurking) for a while now, so glad this place is here/still thriving.
I've been around since mid/late 90s -- Hurley was a huge part/window into this for me, given all he'd rounded up.
Did he pass on? (I hope not.) Did he vanish? Did his clip tapes survive in any form, meaning streaming or sold by another collector/site? I have about 10-12 compilations on VHS and need to convert, but was thinking I'd just buy them all as downloads/electronically if that were possible, but...
Any info on Hurley The Man, I'd appreciate (yes, like many old schoolers on here, I miss the Pie Mafia)
As far as I know, he's still alive. But completely absent from the forum.
He never made his stuff available for download, and once his site closed the DVDs were no longer available. As with an earlier thread about disappearing producers, no one else in the community can take this over or make them available again... as he "owns" the copyright. (Although they're cliptapes, so maybe "own" isn't the right word.)
He did trade some of them to Mark at WAMTEC when he was hard up for funds. (Which was often.) So... You can probably find some assorted ones there for download.
I do have the complete collection on DVD somewhere. Most stuff has since became easily available in better quality, but there's still tons of clips that have never surfaced on YT and probably never will.
If any copyright was infringed, Hurley was doing it to begin with! That's assuming the tapes contained only mainstream scenes .... if he was shooting or distributing original content, that'd make it more complicated.
You could make a case for cliptapes as fair use ... maybe not a great case, but certainly enough of a fig leaf that no one here should have a problem with it. In fact, I think UMD members should be actively redistributing Hurley's cliptapes (and Rob Blaine's, and Wamtec's, if in fact it's true that those no longer exist in their original form), or at least individual scenes from them that remain scarce. Case in point, the recent thread devoted to "rescuing" the LOBO mud wrestling clip.
Speaking of Hurley's tapes, he had about four or five pie clips on them from a kids show in Pittsburgh (I think, or some other Midwest town; no actual kids were on the clips). There were two different women pied in these clips. One had light brown or reddish brown hair and got pied a couple of times playing a sort of shrewish library lady with her hair up. I recall one of her lines before getting pied was something like, "Who took Mr. Mouse's cream pie? Give me that pie!"
The other woman had darker brown hair and got pied once or twice as a sort of assistant to a mad scientist/Dr. Frankenstein type character.
Does anyone recall the name of this show? And have the clips ever survived online? Thanks.
Mapwhap1 said: I think those were from a television show called The Mister Man Show. Ran very briefly in syndication in 1998-1999. No idea if they are available elsewhere.
Yeah, that's it (or the Mr. Men Show). Thank you.
All I could find so far was a couple of screen grabs.
An impressive resource; did not realize this existed. May have to invest in upgrading my Hurley Tapes (I think i have about 12-15).
There's one of a girl in a college bathroom, long haired brunette (vaguely Katie Holmesian) who gets a shaving cream pie to face in one of the volumes (#10-13) that is just outstanding, at least IMO, for early amateur video coverage.

That sounds great, any idea if that clip still exists somewhere?
Oh, yes. That was definitely on Hurley's tapes. That is an old an NBC commercial. That girl was very pretty, spoke with a sexy French accent, and took a great pie. As a matter of fact, on Hurley's tape, he had it on a loop. Even slowed it down to almost frame by frame. I'll look on the Wamtec database and see if I can tell who h tape it's on.
Great! Really want to see it as I love Frenchwomen anyway, and love that sort of 80's look. Looks like it could be a perfect clip for me as it has more or less everything I like, and personal taste in women + pies is always a plus!

Yep; it's on one of the tapes on the above-mentioned list, i was going through the other day and saw it; if you go through the "Hurley's Clip Tapes" ones by clicking on the pics, it's in there - if i get a moment, i'll go back through and try to find which one, but they showed 2 pics from it so it's definitely in there.
That bathroom shaving cream pie is Wamtec #3716; some other solid-to-great Nickelodeon pieings on it, too. But that one was a fave; girl has a cute southern accent, it's a lost-bet pieing and for a shaving cream pie, it's excellent.
I have looked at just about every clip tape on that site, and I cannot find the French model in the NBC commercial.....or at least, I haven't seen the thumbnail for it. I am POSITIVE its on one of Hurley's clip tapes. I'm sorry I was unable to find it for you. Perhaps you could contact WAMTEC directly, and they could tell you which tape its on.
