I'm re-organizing / making plans for my backyard and am hoping to dig a mud pit back there. Has anyone else done this in their own yard? Are there any specific tricks to it?
Sounds like fun. Only creating indoor ones I'm guessing key would be insulation between the pit and the ground would help. Some hose could be ran under the liner and hot water could be used to heat it a little. Good luck and happy mudding...
I think a big part of it is where you live because that will determine what kind of mud you get, where I live it's all black top soil, in the south there is more clay. I've never built one but it's my understanding that clay is better, that is what most people who build indoor pits use. Good luck!
Hay Darla, sorry my profile is messed up right now and I am waiting for MM to fix it. Use my email address for direct questions: lord.hobbit at gmail dot com
Depends on if its just for a few uses or if you wana keep it around for a while, can be costly. Also depends on your climate.

I constructed on last year above ground and spent more than I had budgeted, but it turned out great!
made it 4 foot by 6 foot so the girlfriend and I could stretch out
Used 2x12 for the outside wall and reinforced the corners, because mud is heavy!
Heavy floormats for the initial lining and to give some cushion. Looked at thick plastic for a liner, but they were soooo expensive. took a plastic painters drop cloth and folded it twice for nearly the same thickness for fraction of the price.
Used foam pipe wrap to cushion the sharp corners of the inside top edge.
Built a top with hinges and covered with tin.
Bought clay blocks because i could get them shipped easily and more cheaply than powdered clay.
Measured and made a test sample to get the consistency I desired and built a spreadsheet to figure how much clay I needed to buy. Kind of nerdy, but honestly did not have a clue on how much would be needed.
Bought a blender and went to town. took me a good little while to get it done.
but it worked!
My girlfriend thought the clay was too cold, at a bout 75 Fahrenheit.....another problem. Got a sump pump hooked to water hose, then a copper coil that runs over a propane burner.
liquid clay shoots out of that unit at 100+ Fahrenheit. takes about an hour and a half too heat the whole thing up to 105 F ala hot tub temperature.
Hello girl! Mudmadphil built a professional spa grade mud pit mud bath we all envy! There is a guy on you tube that's lives in Ohio that built a pretty fantastic one. We live in genesee county Michigan our backyard has both clay and top soil or black dirt. Here are key points I have learned from our experience building a mud spot. 1. Make sure it is private. Either behind a fence or where no one will disturb you. It really sucks explaining yourself to a noisy neighbor. Also neighbor kids will play in any and all mud. Trust me this is and will always be a nude event. 2. Make sure no animals can get in and contaminate your private mud hole. 3. You may want to cover it after use to prevent it from drying on you. Nothing makes a woman cry when she is looking forward to a mud bath only to find a rock hard patch of earth! Indoor mud pits are awesome but nothing compares to good ole Mother Nature. My husband started working on ours yesterday. We basically rototiller up a 10X10 spot in our backyard. The soil is top soil and clay. We roto till it until it's basically powder. It usually ends up about 4" to 20" deep. We then blend water in with shovels. I like slop where my husband likes it more liquid. We start off with it as more liquify one the beginning. Either way after you get in you will be a mess! We didn't on our spring pit but our summer pit we will line it so we don't loose any water/mud. I prefer bathing as much as I can. It is so good for your skin and stress. My husband likes to bond in it. He probably uses it a fraction of what I do. I am not complaining though, muddy orgasms are the best! Muddy and stay safe, Sarah.

That sounds totally awesome I would love some pics of your spot and I am definitely interested in it myself have you got a link to the YouTube channel?
No pics! Of myself or hubby. Internet pics/videos can be like bad tattoos. "Seemed sexy and hot at the time I did it but now....." Or is that your aunt on this fetish site?

Well I got that from you not having a profile pic I just meant of the mud pit no-one in it or anything like that
Happy Thursday gang!! Sooo yesterday to my surprise my wonderful husband spent around 2 hours roto tilling the spot! I was inside, just getting home from a looooonnnnggg walk making about 5 lbs of egg salad. I eat/save half and the rest I use to treat my hair. Mud dries the shit out of your hair scalp. I use egg salad or straight mayo in my hair to bring moisture back. This is another Au natural activity your can do in the privacy of your back yard. Mayo or egg your head! I had all my work done by the time he finished and decided to meet him garden side in the buff with my hair up in a white towel. He smiled as he was pulling the roto tiller out, said sorry babe I just got done, there's no water on it yet. No biggie I just wanted to see how it turned out. He observed as I stepped down sinking up to my knee in loose dirt! I giggled, he shook his head. I stepped back out, kissed him and offered to take the tiller back to the barn. Bare ass, flip flops, hair up in a towel and cigarette hanging from my lips having my 105 lb ass being thrown around by this thing. He was laughing so hard he cried! Anyway it is kind of cool out but it rained the entire night leaving about an inch of water on top! My husband is going fishing for the next 2 hrs!!!!! I will be left home!
