When I watch a WAM video I generally want to go straight to the action - starting with the models clean and dry, but with at least one of them starting to get wet or messy almost immediately. When I watch videos from others I tend to skip forward past any titles or long dry intro, and start watching just before the actual messing-up starts to happen.
When filming Saturation Hall scenes, I tend to assume that's mostly what the audience wants too, and so our videos also start with minimal introduction and while you will get to see the models clean, the first mess or wetting, or at least the first clothes-filling pours, will happen pretty quickly.
For those who want to be able to examine the models' outfits in detail, before the video rolls we shoot multiple detailed stills of each model individually, and in a multi-girl scene all of them together, and as well as full height shots front and back we also take medium body shots, crotch views, butt views, hair shots, face closeups, and depending on what they're wearing other detailed shots of relevant parts of their outfits. The idea being that if someone wants to linger over the details of the clean outfits, they can go through the stills, which have the advantage of being much higher resolution than even 4k video. And then, having viewed the models and outfits in detail, they can watch the video to see them get messed up.
However from a comment someone made recently I gather that some people want to see the models in detail on the video before the messing up starts, so I'm wondering how common a view this is, hence this poll.
So how do you prefer a WAM video to start - straight to the action with the clean and dry details in the accompanying stills, or have a couple of minutes of posing and different views clean and dry on the video before the messing up begins?
Does anyone have any other preferences not listed here? Comments welcome!
If there's something going on - a plot to establish, or the model doing something interesting - that's fine to delay the action, but five minutes of her doing various poses as though that was an end in itself has irritated me in the past.
Very interesting balance of responses, I'd been expecting it to be more skewed one way or the other. Would those who voted "other" care to expand on what they'd like to see instead?

Agree that 5 minutes of posing would doing nothing for me..but time spent establishing the characters, setting up the plot, allowing us to see them interacting whilst clean etc is pretty much essential for me to buy a scene

The scene which prompted this thread is a solo, so there is no interaction, just the model gunging her own outfit for her own pleasure. To me, given there are lots of very detailed high resolution stills of the clean and dry model included in the download, "padding" the scene by including the same thing on video would have been cheating.
The poll is quite finely balanced though, so in future shoots I may consider doing at least a steady vertical pan up and down, front and back, on the video before the gunging starts, although I can't help feel that'll detract from the spontaneity of "I'm dressed for a messing and here's all this gunge - in it goes!"
Of course last week I shot four swimsuit fillings back to back with Rosemary, and we did them traditionally, detailed stills from all angles in advance, and then on the video the action starts almost immediately.
How would people feel about a video that had the "clean view" stills added to the start, each still shot lasting about 7 seconds before fading into the next? This would last somewhere between 45 and 60 seconds, then the actual video would start.
I love a good setup before the mess starts. Like in the treatment videos or office videos Jessie does. There is a good deal of setup and some slight disappointment or struggle when the person has been chosen for the treatment. I like that in movies, yeah I know it is all scripted, but there is something about it for me. I don't know why but I enjoy seeing someone struggle knowing they can't get out of it but still struggling as well. I don't do the bondage or pain stuff, I have tried that and even seeing people hurting and what not just does not do it for me, so I know it is not all struggling.
Don't think there is a 'right' answer to this as it largely depends on the premise behind the video but as I prefer a bit of a build up or 'setting the scene' then I invariably shoot them this way. Some people will like it, some will hate it and some won't care either way.
Just shoot it the way you like is probably the best bet.
Ya know, I always wanted to shoot a video that I never got around to where there is literally less than one second before the first pie. That's as far as I got.
People have got used to '360degree' entertainment packages (the movie, commentary, making, outtakes, model vlogs, Q&A sessions, sale of soiled garments etc.).
As many have said - it depends on the movie. All messy movies need a context.
With my own paid content, I try to make sure that at least 90% is 'messy action', just as I would expect as a consumer. I like to know what I'm getting and issue a full, blow by blow description - also pointing out anything that could be construed as 'negative' - like my hand getting in the way (or any bits with me in it!) etc.
Keeping the clean shots brief (there'd been a fortnight of tormenting teasers). I was surprised to get several requests to see 'more of my model clean'. This obviously serves many as the context setter and establishes the 'mood' for what is to come to a greater extent than expected.
My solution is to oblige 'superfans' with this extra material on request by private link - or simply issuing clean footage as part of the trailer. Let's face it - unless the premium footage is purchased - it's 'worthless' so you're not really losing anything by giving it away. For example - 'Profoundly Messy' follows a poetry reading. The preceding footage of the reading is not in the download as I did not deem it to have any commercial value (would seem like padding to increase the running time) so it's on my Vimeo channel in a free movie with some 'trailer' footage cut in if it really enhances your enjoyment to have this too.
The majority probably have no interest at all in these extras and I suspect the numbers might well be skewed by a vocal minority. All in all, it depends how much time it takes up including them* - and whether it's worth it.
DungeonMasterOne - Your question is an interesting one... I voted "Something Else", because in terms of just seeing the model clean at the start a simple panning shot from toes to head or head to toes (taking maybe 10 secs) is fine if there is relatively little "plot" to the video, and as you so rightly point out stills (including Hi Res stills) can be shot to show a model's outfit etc in detail prior to messing, however, if the video is more complex and scripted then it might well need a longer intro to introduce characters, set the scene & introduce the plot... this can either be done by going for scene-setting footage, such as that frequently done by Rev Slymsford in his movies, or alternatively (particularly when only one girl is on screen) the scene can be set using some form of "scrolling text" narrative such as that done by KustardKing to explain to the viewer why Penny was being locked in the stocks, stripped gunged & humiliated against her will in "Penny's Schoolgirl Bondage Humiliation"... and when done this way the intro can be run at "fast-forward" and manually paused / slowed for reading by those who are interested, but doesn't take too much time (or use too much memory the video to be realistically downloadable.
I typically have a couple of minutes of build up at the start of my videos. I figure many people like some sense of anticipation, and a chance to check out the fine-looking model before she gets obilterated. Those that don't want to see that can just skip to the action, which is a lot easier these days than it was back in the VHS era!
