Kody and I are playing around with producing some pie videos and one question we have is how many pies does a pie video need? I've had a huge pie fetish every since middle school and personally for me, I don't need 50 pies in video.

Obviously the number of pies raises the price, so I guess the real question we have is would the pie fans here consider buying a video with say, just 10 pies.

So as a play off stuff like that, maybe 10 pies and we'd also stick with pie tins, not paper plates like in the Dropbox vid. I welcome your comments.

Yea I think im in the camp of quality over quantity. Those scenes you posted both have excellent hits and aftermath and would be buys for me.

Of course when you find a scene with good pies and good hits...you just want more! Lol

I mean, it's not THAT cut-and-dried, but there are plenty of factors that make people decide to buy a pie video beyond just "amount of pies." The model and the quality of hits are both deal-breakers for many, and of course the former is highly subjective anyway.

I personally find that 11-15 is the sweet spot now, but I also throw in cakes and some slime, so YMMV.

One or two is fine by me. For me, a good pie video is really about the attractiveness of the model, what she's wearing, and the quality of the pie to the face. Shaving cream on a paper plate is not a pie.

This. I recently did a video with 15 pies, slime and cakes and felt it was the perfect mix. To me, 15 pies gives you more than enough leeway to get at least a few of the big hits that get people to buy, and also mix in some sandwiches, different delivery methods, and pies to different parts of the body, if you're into that sort of thing!

I agree to a point. Some of my favorite pie videos only have one pie, but those are mainstream or Youtube videos that I didn't pay for. If I am paying I want a little bit more-- I don't really need more than 10 and fewer is fine if the set-up is good, the model is attractive (to me), and the coverage is good.

For me, the big thing is having the hair lacquered in pie. Could be one really great pie hat and push back and if the coverage is good, I'm more than happy.

One of my favorite pie videos is Tabatha by Artschtick and she takes 10 pies. It's of course a personal preference but after awhile, it's just diminishing returns IMO.

I would be totally open to producers repeating the same shots for maximum effect. One of Nadia Valentine's clips from a few years back did this to wonderful effect.

I'm voting for the 5-10 range as a perfect number of pies.

The short answer is that a pie video doesn't need many pies. E.g. I enjoyed the food fight from Charmed which only involved a single cake to the face.

However, as others have said, the number of pies isn't the only factor. Looking at the videos you shared, the dialogue goes along the lines of "Take that, you fucking bitch", which doesn't appeal to me. (I realise that it's acted rather than real hostility, and other people probably do like it.)

Thats a classic for sure. I think it all depends on the model, and the quality of the pies. Some models are great, some suck, and you don't find that out until the day of the shoot. Tabitha had some great reactions and got smacked with glorious pies.It inspired some of my older videos, but I never got it quite right.

To echo the sentiments of many others who have already replied, I don't think the number of pies is a big deal. Some of my favorite pie videos ever were the blackout skits done by PieJinx/Pies Next Door almost 20 years ago -- and those were just one pie per scene, but a bunch of short scenes in each video. That would actually be my preference for pie videos, generally, because to me, the first hit to a completely clean model's face is vastly more important than the rest of the pie hits (except in cases where the first hit is badly botched). And because I realize that's a little ambiguous, I'll spell it out explicitly: It's not that I dislike a second, third, fourth, etc. pie to a pretty face. Not at all. But I'd generally rather see a pretty girl go from completely clean to getting one good pie in the face in six different short skits than I would see the same pretty girl get pied 20-30 times in one long scene.

But I do understand that this approach to making pie videos is not economically feasible to do, given how much time it would take the model to clean up between each very short scene.

I absolutely love the short pie skits you've done with Kody and Macy and London (the two you link above and the other two you've shared with us previously). Kody and Macy in particular are great with their exaggerated line deliveries, emphatic pie delivery methods, and over-the-top reactions to getting pied. I would definitely buy scenes like those if you did them with 10 pies or less. I do really wish you could get Macy to participate in new scenes should you shoot any, but I am guessing that would be very difficult given the direction she's gone in.

For me it comes down to this:

Real, actual pies, like the dessert kind, meant for eating - just 1 will do, more is generally better.

Any other kind of "pie" like made for WAM - doesn't really do much for me.

There are other caveats, but this is the gist of it.

Nah, really, I love Liz Ashley in "The Pie Table", Cassie Lane in "Pie Monster" just name two off my head. In those, I think was like 10-12. That seems a good number.

The quality of the hit, aftermath, and how the model deals with the hit is everything. My favorite example of a horrible "pie video" was where there was a table full of pies, the video info talks about model getting "destroyed" by pies, and there were literally zero (0) good hits to the face. The video only had 1 out of like 20 pies go to the face and that one was bad coverage that the model immediately wiped off. There were like 5 pies to the shoulder area though. LOLOLOLOL. My favorite part was the model had an almost pristine face with one pie left. So I think for sure it will go in the face. It went to the back of head/neck area where you couldn't even tell anything happened. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Another example to avoid is where the model looks straight down, wipes immediately, and her body language is that there is someone off camera with a gun trained on either her or her family.

4 pies with good coverage, and a model that waits a moment to wipe off to me is a fine pie video. The charisma of the model determines how good though. You can't teach that but you can definitely avoid the first two examples I gave.

I am into that. Usually after pies to the face, head, and pie sandwiches, it's pies to the ass or pussy. But I love to see other areas pied as well, especially if the other areas are already or going to be heavily pied.

How about a subject waits to get pied and the pie-er holds one in each hand. The subject is in a bikini and expects a pie sandwich, but instead they are smacked onto the outside of her thighs, or maybe either side of her waist, or even onto her upper arms and shoulders. That would really provide something different and the reaction would be so real due to how unexpected it would be. A single pie could go over a leg or on a stomach, but with enough impact to make a big splatter. I have only occasionally seen this done and really like it. Naturally, the 'standard' pies to the face could follow.
