I have multiple external HDs dating back to the mid-2000s (those are the ones bigger in physical size and smaller in actual STORAGE size). Each one has folders for "Downloads" and "DVDs," where I keep all the various downloads made over the years and DVD contents for each volume.

Labeling the volumes as SS01, SS02, etc. way back when comes in VERY handy for organizing, now that I'm up to SS216!

And while I only get a handful of physical disc orders per month, it's always simple to fill those.... Just grab the appropriate external drive, burn the contents onto a disc, and repeat!

I sort by producer as well. I find it easiest to navigate that way cause I know what to expect from each of them.
