So i have just gotten hold of an awesome PVC hooded jumpsuit from pvc-u-like.com/ as they were in the sale. I really want to wear this the next time I get gunged, I was just wondering how I clean it afterwards? I will be using natrosol gunge. Can i toss it into the washing machine on a low temp? Hoping someone here will know from wearing PVC while being gunged.
Hose down or shower while still wearing it. Wash off as much as possible. Put in washing machine on "shower / rinse" setting. Do that cycle a couple of times. Then wash with detergent (but no fabric softener as it makes pvc slimy) on a low temp wash, no spin. Then hang up on a coat hanger to dry.
I've washed and even tumble dried pvc u like stuff. no probs just use the lower temp settings (40c or under for a wash, and 'synthetics' setting for drying)
hang it while still warm from the dryer and it will be crease free and soft for next time
Natrosol is fine with latex, but avoid oil as that damages latex. Cleaning wise, its hand wash in warm, not hot water. I normally shower off, then rinse the inside before washing.
To dry, hang up somewhere away from direct sun and then turn it inside out to finissh the drying process. i use washing up liquid to wash it, then some talc in it for storage.
Give it a very good rinse or shower, possibly while still wearing it, in lukewarm water. Wash in the washing machine on a low, say 30C, wash with maybe a thimbleful of Fairy Liquid rather than detergent. This also applies to washing latex gear. Tumble dry on a low heat setting until almost dry, then hang while still warm on a coat hanger, and turn inside out once the outer surface is dry.
