Does anyone know if the powder goes in first and then the water or the other way around.I lost the instrictions. .Doh!
Cheers Matt
I start running water from the tap into the bucket when it's got to a nice temperature, then add the powder and whisk for a while... prob 20 seconds or so til all the powder is in. Then stir with a large spoon for a couple of minutes til it thickens (keep going while it fills, up to 80% of the bucket if you have large 12/14 litre ones, or very nearly to the top if you have 10l buckets)

not necessary with hec - it's super fast and easy. I mean, you can still do the drill thing, just you'll also be more than fine with just a whisk and a big spoon
With the Easy Mix HEC you shouldn't need an electric mixer. The powder dissolves very easily and thickens up in around 4 minutes. You just need to keep it mixed every so often as it thickens so you don,t get a lump of jelly at the bottom.
I've also got a small batch of Methyl Cellulose that mixes as easily at the moment if anybody is interested.

How much does a kg make? How much would you say I'd need roughly for a bathtub. Doesn't need to be super thick. Just trying to put a $ tag on my wildest dreams that will probably not happen.
1kg makes around 70 litres of a reasonably thick Gunge, you would get more if it was thinner. You probably only need 2 or 3 kg for a bath tub to be honest, you don't want it too deep.
