So with the new rules regarding uploading copyrighted material, have fellow producers found that their pinched videos and pictures are far less prevalent now on PornHub etc?
It's just I remember many evenings where Steve sat searching through all the generic sites searching for our stuff and applying to get rid of it. Sometimes unsuccessfully.
I know you will never stop it, but interested to see if its reduced.
I also remember Steve experimented embedding 'hidden' purchase/download reference numbers in our videos on certain frames.
It kinda worked. Trouble is, you then have to individually 'issue' the downloads to people, rather than one generic downloading point.
Just interested

I don't actually think that stuff uploaded to private or hidden accounts (and shared between folk) is anywhere near as bad as your stuff being just put out on the open on the 'all can see it' sites.
Yes, it's still piracy, but we are NEVER going to stop all piracy.
This didn't bother me so much, but it does bother Steve.... a lot Then again, he spent all the time trying to get it removed.
This was one of the conversations we had last week. Our pirated stuff is still out there, but not as prevalent as it once was. Steve has managed to find and remove a lot of it over the years and he still checks to this day. He has got pretty good at it.
His argument earlier in the week was that he didn't really want to 'reset' that hard work. Unfortunately, Steve still is totally happy to keep our wamming life private. Getting him to restart here in the UMD is an uphill task
I think he is up for it (if he ever comes home from work!), but it's taking some persuading.
If it's keeping control and restricting who can see the material, then never post it to the Internet at all, that's the only way to achieve that.
If it's maintaining revenue, then while fighting piracy is important, you kind of have to realise that there are basically two kinds of viewers, those who understand that producing content takes time and effort and money, and thus will support producers they like by buying or subscribing even if they could get the material for free, and then there are those who'll take whatever they can get from the cheapest possible source and never care who gets hurt or driven out of business in the process.
Of course those are the binary extremes and most people will be somewhere in the middle depending on a whole range of factors including just how close to their "thing" the material is, how much disposable income they have at that moment, whether they're feeling generous or impoverished, and many more. But in terms of sales, it's the appreciative people who are the actual main customer base. That doesn't mean piracy should be ignored, sales do improve when pirates are forced back, but expecting to actually stop it completelty is sadly unrealistic, for many of the reasons MessyCharlotte has outlined upthread.
Would it bother Steve less if the copyright was someone else's problem? If you'd both fancy a trip to Yorkshire some time, we'd be happy to shoot with you here for Saturation Hall, once things finally get back to normal.
I don't care.... to a degree. It's the risk of uploading your stuff to the internet. It will end up, where it wants to go, and that is pretty much out of your control.
But, it does bother Steve more. Mainly because he spent HOURS editing and making these videos. I just sat there, giggled and got gunged. Plus, we never really made all that much money, so there isn't much financial reward for all those hours. If it was just the time making the video, I think he would be far happier about it.
When people steal his hard work I think it really annoys him. He is very busy and part of the reason we stopped last time was the prolific pirating meant that he literally spent hours in the evenings issuing take-down notices.
I am not going to lie. His heart isn't in this return I am really having to push him and to get this going.
I can't do it on my own and we have had some amazing offers of assistance and shoots at other venues.
Tara, your comment about Xhamster was interesting. Just move the crime around
To correct the record, the housen wasn in Quebec city.
I do feel sorry for what you and Steve are going through. You try to do something fun and artistic and you don't get any rewards, financial or otherwise

I wouldn't push him then. That's just me.
PornHub was an issue because it's like WalMart, super easily accessible in right out in the open. Make no mistake piracy is still prevalent, but you have to spend considerably more time tracking stuff down. Then when you find it on a site belonging to another country outside the US or UK, you will find varying levels of resistance in getting it removed.
Piracy is still around, they just closed the "retail storefronts" as it were.
He's more potato now than man. Twisted and evil.
