Considering it was supposed to be a kids show, they definitely pushed the envelope on a lot of topics. I believe their "Adoption" episode caused a lot of uproar and I think there were some episodes Nick refused to air in the U.S.
As a kid I loved it though, was my favorite show by far

Oh they didn't handle things with kids gloves. Instead of handling divorce and adoption with seriousness and emotions like today's shows they made light of it and then dumped slime on kids.
Hahahaha! I can't stop laughing. Oh shit, that hard as rock slime has actually happened to me. Be sure to add plenty of water to your hydroxyethylcellulose, or it could happen to you
It's a bummer that Sarah was only sprayed, somewhat unfortunate that Cecily and Melissa really got nothing and considering how covered the guys got during her bit, REALLY disappointing Chloe didn't get slimed at all. Hope they do this again though at some point.

The only redeeming quality was the way Chloe ducked out of the way. You could tell she legit didn't want to get slimed. Which just makes it that much hotter to imagine she did.
The hot girl actively avoiding the mess while the idiot dudes get completely destroyed pretty much summed up all the irrational hope and crushing frustration of mainstream WAM scenes.... In a single bit that SNL is NEVER gonna repeat again, just to rub the salt....

Do you think this is common?
Most scenes I see are still more women getting messy than men.

Yes, on this forum, the vast majority of scenes are women getting messy, because that's the audience. (Unless you adjust your filter, I assume.)
Step outside WAM and the UMD, and in the real mainstream non-fetish world, it's been men getting the majority of the mess since the invention of motion pictures.
No need to go down the list, but all the B&W movies were primarily male comics (Abbot & Costello, Laurel & Hardy, 3 Stooges) getting messy, with women as incidental targets. The Great Race.... A classic "WAM" film, but it's still Natalie Wood as the solo female getting pied amongst 20+ dudes. 1970s variety shows.... Probably the "peak" of mainstream WAM (or at least pies), and it's still mostly male celebs, from Captain & Tennille show to Donny & Marie.
I will say that the Internet.... and of course this forum, plus various YouTube accounts and playlists.... have definitely "curated" a lot of mainstream female WAM so it's easier to find, and if you're on a playlist that's only pulling the female mainstream clips, you'd probably assume that females on TV & movies were getting messy constantly over the last 60 years. (They weren't.)
