It seems the game is a guaranteed stay every season in every single version of love island now. It's good drama, good visual and good fun for the contestants so despite being a uk only thing for a while, it's just easier to steal the games that work for the other love island variants. Still annoyed the yank version has far superior pies to us despite our creating the fuckin thing.
It prompted me to search for the episodes, and when going through Love Island USA Season 2, I found there was another messy game in episode 13. (Btw. the "Kiss, Marry, or Pie" game from the video compilation is in episode 12.)
Two couples (Justine & Caleb, and Cely & Johnny) in wedding dresses competed in picking large models of wedding rings from inside of large wedding cakes using only their mouths, i.e. they have to shove their faces into the cakes, while the other couples were throwing cupcakes at them (see some quick screen shots below).
