Being that I am a cross dresser this may come across as slightly odd but Ghostbusters with an all girl crew is pandering to the equality of today but seriously it won't come close to matching the appeal of the original film with four women at the helm.
I disagree that women can not make a successful ghostbusters film. I'm not saying that they have; reboots suck more often than not. But I don't think the gender of the cast will be the deciding factor, and assuming it is before you've watched the film smacks of prejudice. What's your evidence? I can't think of any activities that are "ruined" for me by women doing them. Much to the contrary, watching men do things isn't particularly interesting to me.
I honestly don't know which I am more excited about. The movie or all the slime. When this comes out if you hear about me getting arrested it's because I went to see this, got WAY to excited and publicly slimed myself and others in the theater. I need them to have Slimer in this. PLEEEEEAAAAAAAASE have Slimer in this*twitches with excitement*

It does come across as slightly odd because:
A. People of the same sex tend to group together.
That's the thing with sexism... you can't fucking win. It's either sexism or pandering unless the balance is exactly right... and then that's pandering as well!
Let's not even think about wether they are men or women, because as far as I know Ghostbusting is not weighted on either sex like firefighting or something.
B. Men aren't better at acting because they are men. Not sure how it would affect the quality of the film without assuming otherwise.

It does. I'm not holding out much hope for it, but you never know.
The first film was great, helped mainly by Bill Murray's dead-pan humor and Ivan Reitman's tight direction that kept the movie focused and didn't allow some of the performers to go way over the top in acting and weird humor (I'm looking at you, Akroyd ).
I mean, what is the point of this film? It just seems like a cheap cash grab on the "Ghostbusters" name with the gimmick of all-female leads this time.
The slimings will be great from a WAM aspect, but I'm not sure about this film.
Damn, all the slimings in the trailer are when the team are wearing ordinary clothes, here's hoping they get slimed in their boilersuits at some point too.
I know Hollywood is overfond of reboots, but this one does look like it could be quite fun.
Given the dismal track record for the reboots of other classic comedies like Vacation or Dumb & Dumber (or even the "decades late" sequels Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2)... I'm just assuming this is gonna suck donkeys.
But ya never know. If the reviews are solid across the board, like with Spy (which looked crappy but turned out to be hilarious), I'll check it out.
Full disclosure tho: None of the female stars are my personal cup of tea for getting messy. Melissa M is very funny in the right vehicle but I don't care if she's slimed or not. Kristin Wiig and Leslie Jones both grate(d) TERRIBLY on SNL. (Although Wiig has been very good in other films when she can underplay.)
At first there were all these cool funny chicks who were being talked about for the movie -- Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, Amy Poehler -- and somehow we ended up with these slobs.

How about the remake of "Arthur"? The first one with Dudley Moore in 1981 was hilarious. The remake with Russell Brand was painful.
It is worse when the remake is so unnecessary. Like Gus Van Sant's remake of "Psycho". A shot-for-shot remake, at that. :ohbruther:
