I've got a huge wardrobe full of outfits waiting to get messy, however I often get requests to get messy in outfits I've worn before (usually catsuits and swimsuits). I've tended to avoid getting the same outfit messy up to now, thinking people would prefer to see more different outfits getting messy, but what are peoples thoughts?

If the outfit has been cleaned then why not? I honestly don't think many people will notice if its the same clothing. Go for it

When getting messy myself I've re-used outfits or at least parts of outfits loads of times.

As the poll says - "If it works, why not"?

It is fun getting new clothes (messy) and trying new things but it's not essential. If I find something that's really comfortable, looks good and also is blessed with washing well then I'll go with it again. Aside from being comfortable it keeps costs down so I can do things more often!

I've got clothes packed away that have been messy several times and that I've had for many years. My only exception to this is if I may be doing something where I don't fancy the fabrics chance of survival or its may not be practical to wash them in which case I'll factor in this destruction/disposal.

The point to add here is that I'm just amusing myself - I'm not trying to make a fashion statement or making videos for others.
With regard to watching others work I also have no problem with the same outfits appearing, if anything it carries the same plusses in that they are comfortable and it keeps there costs down/means they can produce more.
The only problem here may be that everyone has different tastes so for me it's great if, for example, someone were to wear a lycra outfit repeatedly but not so great for someone else who likes jeans, etc.

We actually turned it into a bit of a game, we saw how many times we could splosh the same outfit before it was ruined. The answer for us was 7; 3 wet and 4 messy scenes. You're results may vary

I have lots of great outfits that have come clean. Some that haven't (oops) but some that I would love to use again but wasn't sure if people would want to see the same outfit twice. Different scenarios. xxx

I've recently taken a liking to reusing things I enjoy going out in. Maybe it's because only I know that whatever I'm out with friends in was absolutely covered in cake batter and pies the weekend before.

I've done this before and it's a great feeling! So naughty knowing that this outfit that you're wearing has been cover in mess last time you wore it! Same with finding a rouge bit of custard or gunge the day after in your hair or behind your ears. xx

It survived soakings in a river and a bathtub, as well as our usual thrown/poured buckets of water. It also faired ok in a sweet messing and being doused with paint. The oil from a savoury messing permanently changed the color of the satin top to a darker shade, but it was a venture into a muddy lakeside that ended its streak; the heels finally fell apart. We didn't get the idea to do this until after we had already sploshed the outfit twice. Had we done the wetlooks first, we may have gotten to use it in the dunk tank. Below are the only pics I have on my phone. They were taken before the hike down to the creek and after the shoot so she didn't have the heels on. There is also a pic of the heels she wore.

I saw Hope posted in this thread. We are both pretty well experienced at cleaning things that look like they won't ever be clean, PM her or I if you ever need any tips. Actually have a "Dry Clean Only" fancy formal gown in the washing machine as I type this

Sorry to thread jack, but didn't think this was worthy of starting a new thread. Wish I would have seen this thread before I started cleaning this dress so I could of gotten some before pictures. We buy most of our stuff second hand, this was a gown we saw on Facebook marketplace and picked up today. It hadn't been sploshed, but it was dirty from being worn and poor storage. The seller's pictures were not detailed enough to see the true condition so I was a bit surprised when I saw it in person. There were stains inside around the chest and armpits, dirt and stains along the bottom from dragging the ground(?), and was over all a bit dingy. The price was low though and the seller looked like she needed the money, so we bought it anyway. While the tag says "Dry Clean Only", we tossed it right in the washing machine on a regular hot cycle. I even threw in some of my dirty work scrubs to conserve water. The scrubs have been washed a bunch of times so I was not worried about colors running in the hot water. The dress actually came out looking really good. Good enough to wear to a gala dinner, or a sploshing The cleaning process would have been slightly more elaborate if the dress had been used in a messy sploshing. And normally in addition to the machine wash, I would also machine dry a "Dry Clean Only" garment. But in this case, the sequins on the lower part of the dress were glued on (not sewn) so I was worried they may come off in the dryer due to the heat; so hang drying was the way to go!

I know it may seem kind of dumb to go through this kind of effort for something that is just going to get messy, but I know Hope, DungeonMasterOne, and a few others on this board are of a same mindset where you like to start with an outfit that is as perfect as possible before being sploshed

I keep trying to convince her to wear them around the house, but not succeeded so far. I guess she may be worried about unexpected mess - which is fair.


This could be an interesting idea. Quite a lot of our scenes we've used gunge and that washes really easily, so would probably need to try different foody scenes to see what's what. We've certainly had the opposite, picked out a black dress with white spots, did a scene with a few different desserts, many of them chocolatey and now have a black dress with slightly mucky brown spots even after a couple of washes.


We've done this too with certain outfits that are dry clean or hand wash only that we've used for a sploshing session and so far we've not destroyed anything. Only thing we've seen is one garment where the colour was running like mad. In the UK you can get "colour catcher" sheets which seem to work pretty well (feels like the kind of thing that would exists worldwide). We lob those in by default anyway, so it didn't cause a problem.


Makes perfect sense to me. Part of the fun (for me) is taking something perfectly clean and making it messy. We like using a lot of skin tight stuff, so I usually end up spending a lot of time making sure everything is sat right, there isn't anywhere bunched up, sleeves and legs are sat at the same length. Might seem ridiculous, but it matters to me, so I'll take the time to make sure it's right before we start.

If my girlfriend and I doing messy stuff becomes a semi-frequent thing, I'm 100% going to buy dresses that are solely for getting messy in.

But also, I feel like she would be more likely to rewear a dress for something other than WAM if we come back from a winery and I pour enough bottles of incredibly cheap wine on her to soak her, vs covering her in whipped cream.

We might be getting a solid insurance check soon (walked into our apartment on Christmas night after being out all day to it completely ruined due to a pipe burst) so might have to go on a dress splurge.

That is a really important point I neglected to mention, thank you for bringing it up! Definitely don't wash a dry clean only item with other clothes you care about until you know whether the color from it will run/bleed.

I re-use outfits, they always come clean again, and a scene is a combination of costume, materials and scenario, so you can easily mix those up and go again!

For me I like to get a good use out of outfits & shoes where I can.

So I may wear 1 outfit for 1 session but I like to tweak it from time to time, if want to see how it looks with other things. But if I wear the same outfit on multiple occasions for sessions it's because I enjoy wearing it.

The only reason I usually have to change a part of it is the heels may have not agreed with the punishment I've put them through.

But end of the day, you enjoy whatever you wear whether be one or 100 times.
