So, has anyone experimented with "Fluffy Slime"? A YouTube search will find many videos, some with children (so I won't link any) but a very interesting substance indeed. While many of these videos spend hundreds to fill entire tubs or pools with the stuff, they are hoping to (and many have) made their money back on viewcount with millions of views.
While the recipes vary, they usually contain glue, shaving cream, and either borax or a contact lens solution that has boric acid or sodium borate.
I tried it today.
If you watch the videos, most people mix the ingredients with their bodies. It starts out very messy and sticks to everything. And my experience was the same. After pouring a gallon of glue into my tub and then mixing with 10 cans of shaving cream, it was a mess. A glorious mess but I didn't know how I was going to clean it up.
Then I added the contact lens solution and it started to congeal and really turn into "slime". After much mixing, the slime peeled off my body and stuck only to itself to clean up. Interestingly, it has some properties of a non-newtonian fluid. Put your hand in and pull out, nothing sticks. Let your hand become immersed and you are stuck.
I will say, this stuff is awesome. It's not cheap... although what I made easily covered my entire body and felt awesome, it was about $35 to make it. I have saved almost all of it to use later, and I don't know how long it will last. To fill an entire tub with it will cost at least 6-8 times more.
I will upload and link a video soon. Hopefully others here (and producers) try it.
What I used:
1 gallon Elmer's glue 2 12oz (355 ml) containers contact lens solution - Generic was the cheapest! (Must have boric acid as an ingredient) 10 - 10oz cans shaving cream.
Oh what a mess it is to make, but the longer you play in it the better the consistancy and easier to clean up. Mixed up 3 batches and eventually mixed them all together. Have had hours of fun covering my wife and she covering me.
Yes, and even my original batch is still good. I keep it covered and it's back to being more sticky... all the CO2 from the shaving foam escapes, but it can be refreshed with more foam and/or solution. The recipe is very forgiving!
I can't wait to mix up the next batch but will have to set up the pool to play in it. Hard to keep it on the plastic when it runns untill it thickens. Then being covered while lying in it, restricted from moving while my wife has her way with me. What a rush, if you know what I mean.

It's very forgiving and resilient! I use the variant of glue + borax/liquid starch. Building up over time, I now have about 40 gallons stored in 5-gallon buckets. Portions of the original batch are from over a year ago! Filling a bathtub up to the brim with this thick sticky stuff is absolutely wild!
We made up a similar substance without the glue, I'm wondering how the shaving foam fits into the equation and how it would react with out mix. The only problem we found, as you would with fluffy slime is disposal. It doesn't dilute down to wash away which can be a pain.
Up to 4 batches of fluffy slime and had to move to the pool to contain it. What a rush being covered in it. Gets heavier as the fluffiness goes away. But love how it holds you down from moving freely. Cant wait for the next batch mix to add to it

so, as you play....it becomes to where it doesnt stick to your skin anymore?
i wonder if adding nuru gel or corn syrup would make it to where it still has that flow, that stretch, but would stick to your body.
this looks and sounds fantastic but i dont like the idea of it getting to where it doesnt stick to my skin anymore after some play time.... that is just my two cents ill slooooowly put back in my wallet. but what do you think? or just adding straight up borax and some cake batter mix to it?? would that help it stick to you longer for longer play time??
btw, it looks cool as hell!! i can totally dig it.

Yeah I'm only interested in the sticky bit. My understanding is the borax turns it to non-sticky slime. Can it be used by leaving out the borax, or maybe only adding it just prior to clean-up.
If you combine the borax with liquid starch (about 50/50), you can get a thick, stretchy, and STICKY slime. You have to work slowly. It can take a while for the borax/starch to mix evenly into the glue. Too much borax does turn it into a solid rubbery non-sticky mass, but that can be simply corrected with more glue. That's why small batches are so important to fine-tune the consistency. I must have spent at least a cumulative 20-30 hours mixing up my 40 gallons of slime (one handful at a time)!
Oh it sticks, I use Elmer's glue all, shave cream, and contact lens solution. It first has the consistency of marshmallow cream, and sticks the same, as time goes on I add more lens solution to keep it just right.
Here's the thing... when I was mixing it before the contact lens solution it stuck so much that I thought I was never going to get it off and/or cleanup would take hours. But then as I added the solution (or whatever ingredient whether it's borax, etc) it still STUCK but it also peeled off. It's hard to explain, but kind of shown in my video.
The second/third time I used the same batch I added more shaving cream (you could add glue too) and it was similar. Another time I didn't add anything, and it lost some of its fluffiness, but was an amazing feeling nonetheless.
As you can see from my other videos I primarily enjoy mud, so I totally understand the concern about consistency.
You can make a good amount with $40 like I did, so why not give it a shot!?
Im currently working on a recipe for something similar that should still be sticky but more fluffy like the glue and shaving foam slime but without the glue. Our original stretchy slime was great fun so just trying to adjust things to produce a more fluffy slime. Will hopefully have some results to show soon and then will hopefully have some for sale.
