Posted this is in the Game show part, but would love to hear opinions.
What is your favorite messy game show? This includes shows like Double Dare, Figure It Out, Spellmageddon, Boom, etc. as well as shows we see on YouTube like EEG, Potentially Messy Game Show, Luck of the Draw and more.
Double Dare always seemed to let the boys do all the messiest stunts. I always felt miffed and left out--cause girls can get down and dirty too! Funhouse seemed to let the girls get the sloppiest a lot of the time. The super messy Tic-tac-toe game, the slop machine...super jealous I didn't get to do it!
Double Dare 2000 was better, though. They had one stunt where they turned someone into a jelly roll or taco. Usually was one of the girls b/c girls are lighter. She'd be lying on a big taco shell or burrito and then they'd slather her with cheese or jelly or whatever, roll her up, and then push her across the stage and dump a topping on top of the whole thing. When the red player would get up, you could see she was soaked and stained to the bone--soooo envious!
I really liked the new Figure It Out, much better slime than the first edition, really wish they had kept it going. That said Fun House had some good stunts, but no consistency. Same with Double Dare, except I feel it was a little better. I'm also biased toward newer things because I enjoy the better video quality. That one game on Combate, "Balde Sorpresa" might be my all-time favorite, but that's probably only because I also really like those uniforms.
The q&a pie round was especially the best. I know other shows have done it(are still doing) it - but they were the best. I liked the various pies and the gorgeous college students in tanks!
I also have to go with Funhouse. That was the show I would be super uncomfortable watching with my sister in the room when I was growing up. And it didn't help that I had a crush on Punky Brewster at the time and she played a couple of times.
I *loved* the original Figure It Out - it's definitely what started all this for me. It's a shame the ladies typically got minuscule slimings compared to the guys. The new FIO didn't discriminate and had much better coverage with the multiple angles, but methylcellulose or whatever that stuff was will just never do it for me.
I Bet You Will, for sure. Some of the biggest "civilian" wammings ever, at least on US TV--girls in glue and glitter, or molasses and cotton balls. Amazing stuff.

Also, they were often in their underwear while doing it.
Awesome gunging and they wore really nice uniforms, full length black trousers and polo shirts, *and* the gunging was arranged so the goo dropped into their laps just before they got tipped into the vat of gunge.
I still remember when they dunked Scorpio from Gladiators, she was so tall that her bare feet were in the gunge when she was just sitting on the plank, and she was playing with it with her feet, and obviously knowing "I'm going in there with these clothes on and this is going to be fun!"
I wish they would bring back Fun House for adults. It used great slime and mess and I think it was the messiest show. The more I think back on that show there are more awesome games I completely forgot about. Dump-O usually used two different colors for a cool consistency. Slop Machine completely covered contestants multiple times each. Tic Tac Glop had great coverage. Hats Off used gross stuff like spaghetti or oatmeal which was great. Plus even some of the other not as messy games were kinda cool, like the jelly covered hair clips and random bucket type slime games. Family Challenge was terrific. I really enjoyed the kinda nervous Moms and the slime balloons (there's a few REALLY great mom clips on yt). The Works was phenomenal. Nervous moms answering questions and if they get it wrong they spin the wheel with lots of great things on it. Cheese, eggs, slime, pie and holy shit The Works! They dump everything on this poor woman! It was the greatest!!! Then she has to get it together for the next question! That game was a favorite. Multiple games with slime balloon punishments that were great coverage. Messy Word Find which was one of the greatest things I'd ever seen back in the day! Spaghetti, chocolate syrup, tons of different stuff and big buckets too. WCK had great games, messy word find, blap bucket roullette, pie roulette, too many to recall all of them. One cool thing they did was slow mo replays with cool gross sounding slime sound effects, not like obnoxious obvious stock fake splats, but like glop dumping out of a bucket. That was really cool. WWYD had classics like pie pod with crowning glory, pie wash, pie in the sky, those were all great, their pinkish orange thick slime was great! Figure it Out, the new version used terrific slime and tons of it and great contestants that weren't constantly wearing helmets and shields. I probably wrote too much but I love messy games shows and I absolutely love when producers do things inspired by or in the style if those shows. It's tough to do but when done right it's amazing and usually an instant buy for me.
Its a tough call for me, but putting all the factors together I'd have to say Slime Time Live. While I certainly love them both, slime wins over pies in my book, and STL strikes that balance perfectly for me: they still throw a ton of pies but the emphasis was still squarely on dumping slime and other assorted goo. This was the where you would most likely be getting hit with both, and they did that plenty to not only the contestants but everyone in a 50 foot radius. Slime was good and often so where the other substances they dumped.
WWYD will always hold a special place for being first and the pies were so messy that they might as well have been pouring white slime on people with the end result. Plus, the Crowning Glory at the end of the Pie Pod is still ever so slightly above even the Slimeulator on my Wish-I-Could-So-It List because that pink slime was amazing and I can't imagine a better well rounded messy experience than that as long as everything hits the way it is supposed to. It's just sad how inconsistent the Pie Pod was; I wish more than anything that they'd reboot that and get the Pie Pod 100% accurate with consistent use of the Crowning Glory.
Figure It Out is way up there too. I like the slime a little better in the original but the payload delivery is second to none in the sequel and the slime does look fantastic for enough time after delivery that it isn't a problem for me. Plus, they slimed the contestant and even had kids as an extra panelist toward the end, so unlike the original, the contestants get to participate in the best part.
I suppose I should give a shout out to Brain Surge too. Unlike the other shows listed, it wasn't all that entertaining outside the mess itself, but that slime at the end was a nice neon green color and looked like probably the gooiest stuff I've ever seen Nick use. Certainly the gooiest that I can ever recall them dropping from a height rather than pouring out of a bucket.
I only considered shows that I originally saw on TV rather than stuff I've subsequently seen on YouTube. but of those, Fun House is probably my favorite and Family Challenge had some pretty merciless moments too. Also love the clips I've seen from some either Australian or New Zealand show where they dump a wall of blueish purple slime that looks like it would be a lot of fun.
I remember waking up Saturday mornings to watch Family Challenge and praying for some hot mom or the occasional older sister to get pied. What a great show. Especially when they changed hosts and moved to universal studios
The original Slime Time that aired during SNICK when they slimed a Nick star if the phone contestant chose right. I know a girl from Roundhouse and I think think the girl who played Ellen on Pete and Pete was on it too. From what I remember it was a very similar, but a lot more simple version of the Live version that came in the early 2000s.
Wow. You just reminded me of a show I'd also watch with my family that made me uncomfortable.
I doubt it had reruns, too, so I'm amazed at how I remembered it. (Actually, I was never a fan of Slime Time Live, and always wish they would have brought this one back)
I think most people's favorite messy gameshow would be the one that happened at a "seminal" time in their life, if you get my meaning....
For me that was probably FunHouse. Double Dare was good, but rarely had any facial mess (pies, etc) until the later versions, like Family DD. But FH had girls my age shoving their faces into pies, getting slimed, peanut butter slathered on their faces.... DAMN. It was my UMD/YouTube/MessyFun rolled into one.
And yes, Soleil Moon-Frye (AKA Punky Brewster) showed up on that show a LOT. She was always gung-ho to get messy too... and by that point, she had "developed" far beyond her Punky days so I had a huge crush on her too. If only she'd done some shows with a lot of pies.... Missed opportunity there.....
