Did anyone watch this year's alternative Eurovision show? Eurovision is usually my favourite time of year, but, as most of us know, it was sadly cancelled this year because of that damned virus. All 41 songs that were due to perform have all been shelved and won't be eligible for next year's show. So the organisers honoured those songs with two special online shows on Tuesday and Thursday and a special TV show "Europe Shine A Light". It was a little bittersweet watching all the shows. It was good to see all the artists get the recognition of their songs in this way, but sad that there won't be an official winner out of them. Which is sad because there were a couple of countries that were tipped to get their first win this year. If we took one thing from the whole show is that it's a reminder of something unites us all and what will eventually reunite us when this crisis is all over. Stay Safe everyone. Stay at home and, just remember, although it doesn't feel like it, this situation is only temporary
Yes, I watched it, although I missed the usual euro party we have whilst watching the show.
I was surprised they didn't go for video entries from the competing countries, I would have thought that would have worked.
Strange rule that the competitors can enter next year but need a different song - lots spend energy promoting their song beforehand so it's not as if you hear them for the first time during the live broadcast.
Maybe they could have shown all the previous winners and we could have voted on those - that would have made an interesting result Im sure.

That was a big criticism of the way they handled the cancellation. I guess they felt that a large part of the competition is the staging element so that would have put the competitors at a disadvantage as they only had music videos. I also agree that it was a little unfair on the acts to have all their work for nothing by not letting their songs participate next year. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens next year.
