So while watching the first of the Christmas TV specials on NBC tonight, there was a commercial for Ellen DeGeneres's upcoming "Game of Games." For those of us in the U.S., this honestly looks like the closest we've ever had to an adult version of the messy game shows from our earlier years!
The commercial showed or implied:
-- Contestants being dropped into giant cream pies -- Contestants falling through trapdoors (toward some unseen doom?) -- A contestant utterly drenched in water -- A contestant pulled overhead by bungees (toward a messy fate?)
Good looking out. For a while last year Ellen was putting out the best mainstream wetlook there was, which says a lot about how scarce mainstream WAM has been lately. Hopefully that commercial makes its way online soon.
Looks promising, although that's based entirely on your description... I can't find ANY pics or videos of the actual show online. (If they're showing teasers on live TV, they haven't made it to the Web.)
I'm gonna approach with caution, only because Ellen's daytime show has featured LOTS of WAM... "in theory".... But all the pie/messy stuff has been super disappointing. I will say, the wetlook is consistently good if you're into that.
If they can pull off something similar to Spellmageddon with mostly female contestants, that would be ideal. (Spellmageddon had the best "contestants dropped into giant cream pies" stunt EVER.) In reality, I suspect they only do the pie stunt once-in-a-blue-moon, and somehow they'll make sure to bring in some guy contestants for that. I think the chances of getting good wetlook are much better.
And the trapdoor and bungees are probably just that.... Contestant is "eliminated" and disappears, no aftermath (messy or otherwise).
I saw a preview for this during the Thanksgiving football games. From the little footage I saw during the teaser it looks like there might be one or two good messy games on here, but like the rest, until I can examine more closely, I'm going to hope for the best and expect the worst.
Eh, less excited now that the only mess is gonna be that piston that shoots cream. Based on the two Tuba Toothpaste clips it's a hit-or-miss proposition. (Japanese version is much better....)
