Chris Rea, songwriter and blues singer, most famous for "Driving Home For Christmas", died just after Midwinter's night this year. However the song I'll always remember him for is this absolute stone cold classic, "The Road To Hell", which he wrote after being caught in the infamous 40-mile, 18-hour traffic jam on the then-new M25 London Orbital Motorway in 1988.
The single which charted, the "main body" of the song, is actually Part 2, this video contains both parts, including the epic line "On your journey cross the wilderness / from the desert to the well / you have strayed upon / the motorway / to Hell."
As he was always a motor enthusiast, "go in peace, open roads and good driving."
