Question for the females here (or the dudes who cross dress, I don't judge):
When traveling for a trip in warm weather, is it a common thing to wear a dress for comfort? Obviously depends on personal preference but just wondering.
Reason being- my girlfriend and I drove six hours for a wedding last summer. She wore a maxi dress in the car and I had on like a t shirt and gym shorts. We're driving a couple hours for spring break tomorrow and she's planning on wearing the same dress.
In a similar vein I flew to Texas last fall and the lady in front of me when boarding had on a t shirt dress and a Jean jacket. Her husband had on a t shirt and basketball shorts.

Absolutely yes. A loosely-fitting dress with short sleeves or spaghetti straps is very comfortable in warm weather.
I would not really think anything of it if I was out in the summer wearing a dress while the guy I'm with is in an old T-shirt and baggy shorts.
I reglarly attend music festivals in Germany in high summer, it can get incredibly hot and the sun can be punishing. I usually wear a black utility kilt, instead of combat trousers. Having ventilation around your legs really makes a comfort difference when the temperature is high.
Having said that, different people will have different ideas of what they personally find comfortable. Lady Jasmine's go-to comfort outfit, from when she was a teenager, is a pair of denim dungarees. Lots of practical pockets to carry stuff.
When I fly, I always wear a boilersuit. The zip chest pockets are big enough for a passport, and because even if I'm asleep on the plane or in a lounge, I'll have my arms crossed in front of me, they'd be very hard to pickpocket. I've friends who've had their passports stolen from bags or back pockets at airports, esp when returning from holidays - the trip back is always a bit of a downer and people aren't being so carerful, thieves know this and target returning passengers. Plus being a one-piece, no belt to have to remove at Security.
I dress for comfort on trips, but a lot of my comfortable stuff looks good. Like the last time I was on travel with work I wore a long gray sweater dress with a high slit in the back (too high for the thigh highs I had on apparently! ). It's form fitting and looks really good IMO but is warm, stretchy, and about as comfortable as PJs. Thigh highs are comfortable for me in terms of staying warm and helping hide a spider bite so I'm less self conscious, and my ankle boots are about as good as tennis shoes.
I was good enough that walking a few terminals over to reach my connecting flight at ATL instead of taking the train was no big deal.
For what it's worth where I live it's already summertime in the UK and Europe wam and another couple of months we'll be at the point where I'm either in a dress or skirt nearly all of the time. Jeans and shorts are too stuffy in the heat and humidity this state is known for.
