Hey muddy fam I'm in Australia and hoping to travel back to England and Europe this time next year for a few months (obvious reasons permitting) and am desperate to find some good super discreet spots of sloppy dark forest/woodland mud, preferably around the midlands for ease, but would travel and Airbnb wherever it is for a few days for maximum play time. Would anyone have any recommendations? Potential woodland areas near them that could be worth investigating? Similar to the stuff in the pics attached. Throw ideas at me! Thanks boys
The only times I've found good mud in wooded areas that aren't heavily trodden, it's been around forestry plantations in Scotland in peaty upland areas. You may find marshy pockets that have been left between blocks of planting, and sometimes there are places where trees have blown over and the hole left by the roots fills with silt over time, forming a neat little bathtub. It tends to be peaty rather than the type of mud in your photos though.
