Today's episode was packed with pies.

The balloons were still the delivery system. However, there were MANY more pie plates in the balloons.

The women received, I believe, six pies.

I rate all 6 pies a "B" or above. Every pie was face and hair.

What will next week bring? I haven't a clue. Hopefully this trend will continue.

More good news! Judging from the show's IG, Token is now allowed to once again do the full "pie "wraparound"... and boy, he did NOT hold back! Absolute destruction! *

I was hoping the host Retana Kuerten get pied or drenched or a bit messy because of her bday this week. But apparently her contract is messy-free!

Back when they were throwing around 50 pies a week (and sometimes more than 10 went to women!)... A few folks talked about wanting to see the hostess pied, and I told them Brazil had a better chance of dropping into the ocean.

Now that no one besides Curly gets multiple pies a week, I stand by that statement more than ever.

Brief history of Brazil: They LOVE their beauty pageant winners, and I think that love somehow extends to their hostesses. (Not sure why said love doesn't extend to contestants on gameshows, but small favors.) Which is the reason the hostess of Mega Match never got pied. And the female assistants on Passa ou Repassa never got pied. (While the host Celoso routinely got bombarded with pies once a year or so.) And why Retana will never get pied, even though idiot ex-host got nailed a few times. (Along with random male stagehands, directors, crew members, etc....)

Xuxa is the big exception, but she's kinda been into pies since the 90s.

Most promising episode for a while. CM's problem has always been consistency. Let's see what the next 2-3 weeks bring.

I was also disappointed by the lack of mess for Renata when I realised it was her birthday. I think we'll just have to resign ourselves to the fact that she's never getting pied. Ever.

I think everyone is setting themselves up for disappointment for next week. I think the producers realize the balloon game isn't working but don't want to admit it was a bad idea. But this will just lead to more dude fests.

Also, the producers said they got rid of the pie game to make time for other segments. So isn't the balloon thing the exact same game?

So a video from May 2016, when she was "teased" with getting pied... but never actually gets pied (because obviously this was arranged beforehand)... negates the theory that she's afraid to get pied?

Because if you say I'm afraid of roller coasters, and I say, "No, look! I'm not!" And then I pretend to get into a roller coaster car... But I actually DON'T... And then 4 months later, I STILL haven't ridden the roller coaster.....

I agree with Rich it was all pre-arranged, but because it would have been "good TV" maybe for a split second she was afraid they we gonna ad-lib and pie her. Regardless...I agree with fully pied it is just overdue...token or somebody has to take it into their own hands and really nail her.

A year ago, they pied and balloon slimed a female crew member for her birthday on Instagram, but they leave Renata alone on hers. It's kinda of sign that CM won't get her.

That tease with Renata. Oh my. I watched the video really early this morning before going to work. Spent all day thinking I was still dreaming at the time.

That really is a bit of a kick in the balls, though. I was ok with her not being pied so far, because it's never really been teased. She's never come near to the pies in CM. However, those two guys holding pies literally inches away from her face, ready to give her a pie sandwich...

I believe they do not take pie in the face for even contractual issues.
They say that only accept participate in the program if they do not take pie in the face.
But look at this.
When Angelica was working on PASSA OU REPASSA, she always said it would not accept taking pies in the face.
In the first show she attended, she was even raincoat.
But then, in the future, she agreed to take pie in the face in the program she participated as an actress.

Seriously, is that "no pies in the face" contract clause a real thing? Thats a really odd thing to put in there, especially for a gameshow host. Maybe just cultural differences I guess.

If they can't even pie her on her birthday, I have to believe it's not on the cards. There could be no better excuse - and it didn't happen. For shame, Brazil! All of you!

It was indeed, and it does let you know that the double standard works in many ways. (Not JUST screwing the males over....)
In this case, Julia was brand-new to the show and probably didn't have the clout to protest getting triple-pied in "honor" of her birthday. You'll notice it hasn't happened to her since. (And "models with clout" like Barb never got pied on their birthday, so take that as you will.)

The one thing I miss about CM is how they used to really "initiate" the new girls. It was the one time they didn't tip the scales in favor of the women. Maybe Renata derived a special "glee" in seeing the new girls get wrecked their first time out. Who knows. But Karla... Julias #1 & 2... and even Barb herself... all got it pretty bad in their first appearance or two. They didn't get easy questions or cheap balloon cop-outs. It was kinda amazing. (And of course, it almost never happened again once the girls became established...)

The producers promised more games a month ago. Since then the program has devolved into two segments. The model contest and the balloon game. All the other games have been absent. I don't think the producers know what they're doing and they don't know what to do next. They clearly wanted to transition away from pies. The fact that they've had to bring the pies back appears to be a sign of desperation.

Well, at least he got to spend his last show living up to all his early potential...

I was just watching old clips of early episodes. And I was just thinking when the original Chega Mais creator left the series. Wasn't that around the time when all dudes got neutered? Maybe the network wanted the show to be more scripted possibly?

Well, early on there were very few pies per episode (less than 10 total) but the staff made them huge and gooey, so every hit was fantastic. The skinny brunette (why can't I remember her name?!? Sabrina??) was a favorite, because she would get absolutely wrecked off a single hit.

Slowly the show "evolved" into a lot more pies, but also much smaller pies, and the mixture got less gooey and more "stiff," which all contributed to crappier hits. Plus it seemed like plenty of the guys either became good friends with the girls and/or thought they had a chance of sleeping with them, but either way... That's when the "nose/chin" hits and white knighting got to be frustrating.

Conexao overall never had more than a 50% success rate for pie hits most weeks. They were saved by sheer numbers for a while there. But yeah, go back to 2015 and the pies are SO much better.

Also, the twins (Dumb or Dumber or both) also became notorious for this weird "wrap-around hair" thing that tended to miss the face more often than not. Great for you hair fans, but annoying for me. Plus they very quickly became the "comic relief"... which in CM terms meant "you will get pied 2-4 times every show, while your female opponent will probably remain spotless." So a couple good hits aside, they were both human anchors that dragged down an otherwise solid show for months.
