"Buying clay in bulk"

Where is the best place to buy bulk clay powder? Me and my wife love playing in clay and have purchased it before but not sure we got the best price. Based in the USA. We will be buying enough to fill a fairly large pool. Producers where do you get your clay? Thanks!
I have found the powder is not as covering as the bricks of it. like, it almost does this slug like deal....where some places it is almost see through? i cant explain. i had to add coloring to it which stained my skin.
buying bricks of it? has always given me a really cool coverage and I can make it as thick or thin as I want. it also can be found for better prices, oddly enough!

also: where we shoot our mud scenes during the summer? is actually private property. we got lucky enough to have them let us and only us use that area. watch for rivers and flooding. once the flood waters fall quickly you will have flood mud. Which you can bucket up and add to your mix. Will it smell? yup. So, if that is an issue, dont do that. haha

A pottery supply store is often the best and cheapest source. You can often get a 50lb bag of dry clay powder for around $10 (if memory serves). Sheffield Pottery is an example.
Find a local ceramic art/pottery clay dealer and see what they have on hand. "Bulk"

I remember being in a bookshop in London around 20 years ago (think it was Foyles on Charing Cross Road). A guy in the queue dumped about a dozen books on the counter and after the cashier had rung them through the guy asked (perplexed) "Don't I get a discount? For bulk buying?"
The assistant was no pup. "I'm sorry sir, no. Bulk would be around 200 units of the same title - then we might negotiate."

We have been using bentonite clay that we purchase through a pond supply store. Its sold as pond sealer in granular form. We have a poly tote, about 270 gallon of it, in our pole barn for our sinking pleasure.

One thing to note about moist clay blocks being "cheaper" is you are paying for the added water. Ultimately in terms of what you end up making, dry powdered clay is likely to be cheaper. You just have the added work of adding water and mixing. So yes, a 50lb block of moist clay is probably cheaper, but given how absorbent clay is, a 50lb bag of dry clay powder would likely make a 50lb moist block several times over.
