Just so nobody misses the upcoming Birmingham Splunch next weekend here's the link to the event that has been added to the calendar with all the details.

It'll be held at the Square Peg pub which is a Wetherspoons so you know what to expect from their food and drinks menu.


If you are thinking of coming along please add your name (if you haven't already) by clicking the "I'm attending" button on the event page above and if you are staying for food later on in the day just add a post here saying you are and how many of you there are if you're bringing somebody along with you. The more the merrier!

Damn, I was really wanting to go and meet you all but something has come up next Saturday in my hometown that I really need to be at. So please organise another and I shall do my very best to be there.

Only a few days to go now so better sort the place to eat out

We've decided we'll book a table at the Big Wok Buffet which is very close to New Street station. It the cheaper of a couple of options and will hopefully give more people the opportunity to stay for food and still be able to travel home afterwards. We'll book it for around 5:30-6:00 and then people can leave at any time for trains if they need to.

So this is happening! And it looks like the southerner are coming too. So don't miss out your chance to meet the organisers of the London Splosh Games and maybe some special guests too.
It's not too late to let us know that you're coming. In fact, just turn up, we'll try and post onto here once we know where we're sitting. We can also try and make last minute changes to the food bookings as well but please do try and let us know ASAP if you're sticking around for the meal.

One of my other passions in life is F1 so I'll bring Murray's book and Lewis's 2009 replica car which has many cool memories for me and they'll be sat on a table somewhere in the pub so you'll find us I'm not bringing the bottom half of a kettle.....don't worry

As the response to food has not been too forthcoming we'll just play it by ear for now and see how it all works out unless there is a huge deluge of interest tomorrow. I spoke to the chinese buffet today and they don't see a problem in catering for parties on a Saturday evening so whatever the numbers are we'll be fine to eat there.

I've just managed to check in my hotel early so will be there by 1:30 at the latest. I'll try and bag some tables and just look out for Murray Walkers book and an F1 car on a table as i previously posted. Im wearing a dark blue shirt with tiny white dots on it with jeans, shoes and glasses. This is when everybody in the pub has a dark blue spotty shirt on lol

The amazingly great Jelly n Custard was there and we had a lovely lovely chat. Thanks so much Jelly..you are a really lovely person.

Jelly's other half was there..I am realising I will be repeating myself a lot but he was such a nice guy.

I chatted with Sploshed again, and Binnay...top fellas both of them

Had a few words with the great Nasty Gunge and a great catch-up with fellow content producer Dominic.

The incomparable Kacie James was there, as was the really really nice Dani Gunge and talking to them was a delight.

Rancid was there and was really nice and friendly.

I got introduced to Lady Emily who seemed lovely...but I did forget to curtsy.

So many great conversations with so many warm friendly and genuine people.

Thank-you all for being so welcoming (and apologies if I forgot anyone).

Sorry..this is worse than a Glynnth Paltrow Oscar speech, but I had such a lovely time and enjoyed every minute.

Thanks one and all, it was a delight meeting or re-meeting you. I enjoyed it enormously, and thanks to everyone who was involved in organising it.

It was fun (yep I'm terrible with names and faces) and even had a couple of hours of twittering repairing some troll related damage!

Another brilliant day and as ever over way too quickly. I actually managed to stay reasonably sober and managed to not loose my fone and glasses! unlike last year haha

So......just a couple of pics of the tailor made card.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't enjoy this splunch at all, in fact I got fed up and left after an hour or so.

The table was too small for the numbers attending and at the busier end of a very busy pub. It seems that I was one of the later arrivals and I found that there was nowhere to sit, or even find standing room, in that area. So I stood around at the bar nursing my pint and made occasional unsuccessful attempts to break into the group. I managed to say Hi to about three people I knew, that was all the conversation I got. Bar service was slow too.

I have attended many successful splunches over the last ten years or so and all the others have been awesome including previous Brum ones. This one though to me was just a wasted Saturday

Sorry I didn't make it guys, I was doing a photoshoot (non messy) and then at a friend's birthday do. Hope you all had a good time.

A big thank you to all the organisers, it was a happy coincidence this meeting fell during my return to the UK. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with everyone. Hope to meet you all again some day in the future. Good luck with the London event.

Yes, thanks to everyone involved. I had a great time getting to know lots of new, friendly people and some familiar faces.

I also remember, through a slightly alcohol-fogged brain, some discussion of trying to get a North-West splunch off the ground again, possibly sometime in early June, for all us Manchester/Liverpool/Lancashire types. There seems to be plenty of us knocking around.
