Alternative spectator cam footage shot during the making of the Pie Eating and Wearing contest that Lenny and I made in 1998 in my backyard.
Those pies were something else, beause when the shoot was over we had 2 dozen huge buzzards swoop down and flock around the dead pies. We had so many big birds in our garden I had to keep my small Maltese dog inside the house because of the menacing birds having a feast of Lenny's dead pies.
Production Problem 1 = Noisy Seceda bugs in the trees are so loud in Florida they sound like electricity buzzing and ruin your audio. This is a common problem in Florida. The professional film makers will hire the local fire department to hose down all the trees because that stops the bugs buzzing so loud -- but we didn't have the budget to hire the Fire Department.
Production Problem 2 = In the 92 degree heat the pies were melting fast and falling apart, which you will see here in some cases.
I love your flashbacks and all the details (despite all the headaches!) so much, thank you for posting them. I'm sure I'm not alone, but all the WAMTEC pie stuff goes right to the core/beginnings of my discovery of the UMD...
