I've been inspired by some of these posts to find my favorite messy scenes from movies that influenced me.
So this is the whole freakin movie, even though the scene is at the very end, at about 1:56:48, so you'll want to skip all the way ahead. This scene hits all the check marks for me, great delivery, great coverage, great reveal, and great reaction. Hope you all enjoy!
I totally agree with Creamy on this one. The first time I saw it I was surprised it was so good (especially since the female getting caked is Cindy Williams from "Laverne and Shirley" as gooeypiefight said, and we know sometimes they take it easy on the stars). This is a TV movie that was on YouTube some years ago and then removed so hopefully this one will be up for a bit. I'm glad it's available again (plus, I always liked "The Patty Duke Show" thanks to Nick at Nite in the late 80s).
There's a little bit for everyone here for a few reasons: The cakes are large and very creamy, making for full coverage and adherence to the faces and clothes. The male stooge character gets caked very well (he looks a bit like Larry of The Three Stooges) and his villainous partner in crime, Cindy Williams, laughs at him so that adds an element of comic humiliation for the "women pieing men" aspect (despite him not pied/caked by a woman). Then there's the fact that a second cake appears in the scene instead it being just one cake for him and then something else, like a punch bowl splashing on Cindy Williams. She gets caked as well as he does so the crowd of others in the movie (including both Patty and Cathy and their dates) get a good laugh at the villain's comeuppance.
Definitely a recommended scene. Thanks for posting for everyone, Creamy!
Awesome scene! Love the buildup with the waiters suddenly appearing out of nowhere with those giant cakes. You know someone is going to get plastered!!

YES!! This is why it's my all time favorite scene, it was so unexpected, and such good quality it really exceeded any expectations. It definitely set the bar high for me as far as mainstream media goes.
I haven't saw this one yet, but it's a good one that has everything. Great buildup, cakes have a great look, coverage is as good as you could hope for on both hits, and the humiliation factor is on point. Thank you for sharing!
Ah, I remember this going back to the old Hurley tapes. Haven't seen it in years. His version was obviously lower quality.... and very little buildup to boot.
Second time Cindy Williams got caked/pied in the face to my knowledge.... The first, on "Laverne & Shirley," was a formative scene for me that doesn't hold up now. (Bathrobe, hair in towel, poor coverage.)
The ONE thing I forgot about this scene.... and it's a minor quibble, but keeps it from being an all-timer for me.... is the poor editing. She gets caked incredibly well, but before the plate even drops, we're cutting away to.... Patty Duke laughing? And then, other Patty Duke laughing some more? By the time we finally get back to Cindy, she's already wiping.
I'm always curious about the reasoning behind these editing decisions. Sometimes it's a stunt double falling into the cake so they need a cut... but not here. Sometimes the cake has bad coverage so they cut back to the victim with "applied" coverage... but not here. Why immediately cut away from what was obviously a stellar hit? My only guess is Cindy--or someone else in the shot--started laughing when they shouldn't have, effectively ruining a one-take shot, so they had to cut around that.
Anyway, a bit annoying. IF anyone stumbles on the outtakes let us know!

Yeah I am annoyed with those things as well, it's hard to expect much given how corny and cheesy the whole movie is. But damn those cakes look basically like large pies and I want one in my face so badly

Bad edit, but having been around a TV shoot or two, I can imagine something like: they had one shot to do it, they freaking NAILED her (which they did!) and she spluttered, or gasped and had to cough out a glob of frosting, or she was pushed out of the frame... some "woops!" moment and they had to cover it up in ze editzz.
By the way, Creamy I want one of those in your face so badly too
I too remember this scene from one of Hurley's cliptapes, and it's great to see a much better quality copy--I completely agree about the frustrating editing (if handled properly--even as well as the caking of the guy was--this would DEFINITELY be a contender of one of the greatest cake/pie in the face scenes of all time), yet the coverage is still pretty awesome after the "wipe" AND the humiliation factor / haughty defiance of lost dignity factor is a 10 out of 10. Also, probably due to the the fifth-generation copy quality of Hurley's version I COMPLETELY failed to recognize the victim as Cindy Williams before now! Thanks so much for the find, CreamMeAgain!
I liked the scene. The only pity for me was that she left the scene too fastly. For me, it would be better if she was shown from head to toe, with the face full of pie.
