I don't mean so buried in slop that you can't see, I mean a salt water sensory deprivation tank.
Did you get anything out of it? It's something that's always fascinated me. I've never indulged in drugs (if that matters). I don't think I'm claustrophobic.
I want to schedule it in 2 weeks, coincidentally on Friday the 13th (wife's not happy about that, but I'm not concerned). Biggest fear is that simply it will be a waste of time/money.
I only had one experience, which was free and I'm a terminal cheapskate. Recommend it to anyone, I thought it was fantastic, probably stayed in it overlong and had never felt so totally relaxed after. My voice had gone down by 2 octaves.
I've been in one, once. It was alright. I did notice some aches and pains were gone, due to the body being able to float freely, with no stress or strain on the muscles and joints.
A word of warning though, watch out for your eyes, because that salt water is brutal!
I tried it once years ago and it really wasn't for me. I wouldn't of said I'm claustrophobic, turns out I am!! I also bumped into the sides a few times, so just couldn't let go.
One opened up near my home about a month back and might give it a go this weekend. There basic pricing is $120 CAN for 2 floats a month or about $80 for one shot and first time discount offer. The standard time is 90 min with most spent in the tank. The filtration system keeps the water clean above and beyond drinking water standards.
The common term is float tank to not sound scary or creepy. An average tank holds about 800 pounds of Epsom salt aka magnesium sulphate. Much of the relaxation and muscle ease comes from absorbing the magnesium as %80 of the population is deficient in that mineral. It is a natural calcium channel blocker. If you got high blood pressure or hypertension or diabetes, cramps, charley horse , magnesium will help.
You can have some breakthroughs in elevating your consciousness because you forget your body is there. Go in with some intentions of seeking solutions or healing. Some athletes use them to visualize and enhance performance. Try some breathing techniques like Pranic or Transcendental and touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This activates special neuro pathways. In our daily lives most of us operate on the Beta brain waves. Alpha is the relaxed state of the parasympathetic nervous system. The is where Healing, Learning and Feeling comes from. If you are able to let go and enter Delta state, that is the bridge between this world and the other, if you will or you could say all one. The ego resist entering the delta, fearing loosing the I, but you will come back, just like you woke up this morning. Theta is deep sleep.
IT had been rare I have gotten to a Delta state, been meaning to practice more. The float tank is an excellent tool to reach these states much easier that can take monks months or years to achieve. Awakened monks brains operate on the Alpha, Beta and Delta brain waves simultaneously.
Some day would like to try hyperbaric oxygen. Accelerated healing and detoxification. Also $300 or more
yay, today is the day. Everybody should do something once in a while that is, not really scary, but where the outcome is a mystery going in. I have no idea what to expect, but that's OK.
wasn't anything I need to do again, but it was cool. saw lights that obviously weren't there. but no long lasting effects, good or bad, and certainly not a religious experience.
