So in cleaning out my parents' attic this weekend, I stumbled across my EARLIEST collection of WAM clips. Yup, these are the ones I painstakingly recorded on the VCR (remember those?) from about the age of 11 or so. Most of the clips are from YCDTOTV (which are pretty easy to find on YouTube now), Double Dare, and FunHouse.... and while the participants were all older than me at the time, they'd definitely be considered "under age" here. So no real need to upload those.
HOWEVER... I found a tape that looks to be almost every single pie clip from the first season of WWYD, and I'm pretty sure there's another one with a similar compilation from Season 2. Anyone have an interest in seeing these? I'm not WAMTEC so I rarely put mainstream clips in my store, but if I did, this would probably be an hour-long clip, SD, for around $10. It's gonna take a LOT of time and effort to convert from VHS, so I'd rather not go through the trouble unless there's an actual audience for this. Let me know!
me too, I'd give you $10 for an hour of unseen WAM.
Maybe do an hour every day for a week or so and see how much progress you get. It'd mean your collection is digitised and you can throw out your old VHS tapes that take up a heck of a lot more room than a 500gb hard drive
Just randomly scanning through... There's the famous Pie Slide clip. One with a kid. Another with an adult that's not as good. Possibly more. Lots of goggles, some without goggles.... The one with the girl holding the bag of groceries getting nailed is in there. The sorority girl getting nailed is in there. Lots of poofy early 90s hair.
If I can figure out how I converted VHS last time, I'll try to make this happen. There's also some other random stuff... Remember Gonzo Games? There's a couple clips from that. College Madhouse pie quiz rounds, although I believe those are all over YT. Salute Your Shorts.... I had a crush on that girl Dina (??) who always got nailed with water, whipped cream, pies.... Someone get me her contact info so I can convince her to reprise those moments.

Whenever I see the phrase "from old VHS tapes" I think back to my days of trading and collecting TV shows via VHS and the awful tracking lines and general decay of quality from multiple re-recordings. I'm guessing since these are clips that Little Rich recorded himself they should be at or near early 90s TV-quality, yes?
Also, I had assumed everything to be seen from WWYD had already been uploaded several times over. Are we missing a lot? Hard to think there were any stones left unturned from such a relatively recent era.
Well, they look pretty clean. SP quality, no tracking, 1st gen. But I still need to convert them. There's a good chunk of episodes on YT, but I know for a fact it's not all of them, cuz I have clips that aren't from any of those. But that was my main question... Is having a complete (or almost complete) collection of just the messy bits from WWYD (without having to sift through every single ep beforehand) in nice quality worth $10 to people? Looks like a few folks would say yes.
In regards to quality... I also found the old "Paul's House Of Pies" clips on a few VHS tapes. Obviously 1st gen dubs from the man himself, and some of the hits are top-notch... BUT I'd forgotten that the lighting/video quality isn't very good. Stuff that we didn't mind in amateur vids back in 1997 really stands out 17 years later.

WWYD, College Mad House especially...
I think a lot of the College Madhouse clips are up on YT. Also, Hurley had all of them on his cliptapes in pretty good quality.
Which brings up a bigger point... Someone *should* make those old Hurley tapes available again. Is he still around? He eventually converted them all to DVD, but they were never sold as downloads.

In regards the Paul's House of Pies tapes....I didn't realize anyone still had those. I gave the master clips to Hurley years ago., so I don't even have copies of my own stuff. I agree that the lighting and video quality certainly wouldn't hold up these days, but I hadn't even stopped to realize it had been 17 years. How time flies....
I would be interested in the wwyd clips compilation
Hurley's clip tapes were invaluable in the 90's and definitely the first wam purchase I ever made. I think that was also the first time I saw Melissa (from Uncle H and Melissa), and was so jealous that someone had a wife that into pieing.
It is too bad Hurley is no longer active, but very understandable. In an age of DVR and youtube, almost no wam clip goes unsaved.
Update: So I have what I *think* are all the messy WWYD clips from that "long" first season. I was checking what's out there on YouTube and a lot of these come from unavailable episodes, so that's a positive. I've converted the footage so I just need to render it for downloading and do screen grabs. I'm also throwing in a few choice clips from Gonzo Games, Family Double Dare, and Hey Dude. (Ben Stiller's future wife getting wet & messy!)
Back to WWYD: I thought I'd lost the excellent clip where two girls holding grocery bags get well pied by their friend, but I actually think that's from the (shorter) Season 2. (With the Pie Wash, etc.) Still trying to find those tapes.
Most of what I found on the other tapes are a lot of old Double Dare and FunHouse (all minors)... plus the YCDTOTV slimes/waters/pies, which are all on YT. But two items of interest: --Most (all?) of the College Madhouse pie games in first-gen quality, and --The "Hey Vern!" skit My Father The Clown, which often ended with the cute mom character getting decked with pies. Again, if there's interest, I can render these clips too... Probably as one long (30-45 min) download. Let me know.
Hopefully I'll have this debut WWYD clip up in the DL Store within a day or two!
Yeah, I'm certainly interested in this, if only to see these clips all together - I'm pretty sure I've seen all of them, but we'll see. Happy to contribute cash to nostalgic efforts like these.
While we're waxing nostalgic, the show that I always felt we were missing clips from was Family Challenge (a criminally underrated show for mess content, in my opinion). I know there's a ton of clips that we do have from the show, but unlike wwyd, our clips seem very hit and miss (probably didn't help that the show was on the family channel, of all places).
Ah... Family Challenge... I had several VHS tapes with almost all those clips (both the original version with the host who died, and then the newer one shot in the park). All gone now.
BUT I feel like nearly all of them were on Hurley's cliptapes over the years, usually as they were broadcast, since that show ran in the mid- to late-90s when his cliptapes were already going strong.
