So I have this female friend who wants to have a big bucket of cake batter poured over her and get super messy. Neither of us have ever done this before, so I thought I would ask the pros, how many boxes (practically speaking - I know the more the better), inflatable pool, tarps etc. Any help is appreciated!
Do some experimenting first. What consistency are you looking for? Thick and creamy, chunky/lumpy and more runny? This will depend upon how much liquid (and oil) you add and how you mix or stir the batch (less stirring = lumpier batter). Again, experiment. Also: volume - how much gunge do you want? Two boxes of cake mix (plus oil, eggs, water, etc.) will yield about a half-full five gallon bucket (always best to use for handling a sizable volume).
One note: cake batter contains baking powder which, if it gets in the eyes, will sting. so, have some a roll of paper towels always handy to wipe the eyes when/if needed (or between multiple gungings (this I learned from experience).
Don't know where you hail from, but here in the UK I've only been able to find the smaller boxes of cake mix. I found it takes about twenty boxes to fill a bucket, but that's me mixing it really thick. On that note; if you decide to use it in that way make sure the tarp is really weighted down. The last time I used it the tarp actually ripped it was so sticky. Gorgeous stuff.
Yeah, Guess7 was more right on target about the volume issue (it takes about 4-5 boxes to half fill a 5 gallon bucket, in the US)...also, I forgot the part about using HOT water (which Guess 7 remembered)....not scalding hot, but hot, so that when the time comes to gunge, it will be warm and pleasant for the "model".
