For many years UMD has restricted the use of block capital letters in subject lines and in the body text of scene descriptions, to stop spammy advertising where producers capitalised things to try and increase the impact of their posts. Certain text strings are allowed such as UMD and UK, but I think the list could do with expansion so the idea of this post is to gather suggestions, which can then be made into a post in UMD Dev as a request. I've put the ones I can think of immediately in this post, please follow up with any further suggestions anyone would like to see, with an explanation if not immediately obvious what it stands for or why should be allowed.
UMD WAM HEC - type of gunge
USA US UK EU DE FR JP AUS
RIP - something we'll see increasing use of as cultural icons, and former wam people, pass on. DLSR - standard digital camera SLR - film predecessor of a DSLR, may be mentioned in classic scenes ISTR - I seem to recall IIRC - if I recall correctly AFAIK - as far as I know

MILC - mirrorless interchangeable lens camera - these are becoming more ubiquitous as the other two go the way of the dinosaurs and hipster culture I kid I kid....

I'm afraid thats the kind of thing the filter is meant to suppress, there's no reason to have normal words in all-caps, and if people are allowed to do it in subject lines, then very fast every post subject is all-caps and that would make the forum index harder to read - research has proven that lowercase letter are more readily interpreted by the human brain.
This is why for instance UK road signs use mixed case with only the first letter of town names, etc, capitalised. "Wetwang" is easier to read and interpret than "WETWANG", something lots of marketing people really need to learn. There's a good reason "adidas" chose to lowercase their trademark.

LOL! I was wondering if anyone would do that. Personally I'm pro-capitalist, I believe in the right of people to start and run their own businesses, and become rich if they are successful. Though I also believe in sound regulation and a solid social security system for those at the bottom, both for humanitarian reasons, and because if you give money to the poor they go out and spend it, which benefits everyone up the chain.

Well, based on current posts in UMD Dev, "ID" and "BS" probably want to be added to the list. "ID" definitely does.

A UBI and sensible socialism would benefit everyone who isn't from inherited wealth or a tech billionaire. Hopefully, the filter let me type UBI to make this relevant!
