This may already be late for East coast viewers, but there's been a running promo spot for AGT in the last week clearly (but very briefly) showing a pretty gal with her hair messy(slime?) and face wiped (with cream?) and either confetti falling around her, or, she got the 'golden buzzer'. In any case, perhaps some kind person will tape the show and post the clip (link) here (or on YT, vimeo,etc.). FYI
It was an opera singer in an elegant dress getting sprayed by paint and hit with a pie on the side. then she does a second song with simon and howie getting in the fun with her getting more paint and a pie hat. then howie and terry get in it she got slimed, and all out chaos. and the lady is having the time of her life while still wearing her hat

The vid is on YT now. I'll let you find it.....it's pretty easy to find.
This same singer did something very similar on Britain's Got Talent in 2023 (also easily finable on YouTube). There were no pies that time -- the mess was mostly paint and glitter -- so I personally find the new one more satisfying (even if dammit, she didn't take one to the face, which is a real shame, because she has a very pretty face!).
You mean to tell me that Simon Cowell stood in front a pretty woman with a pie for half an hour, and ended up putting it in the face of a bald old man? I've always said he should be exterminated.
Is the current 10 (15? 20?) year trend of attractive female celebrities* refusing to get messy in public just an American thing, or more a "We know this is a weird fetish so hard pass" thing?
I mean, male celebrities (attractive or not) seem to have no issues still. And Mel B might've always been a killjoy, but Sofia V was willing to do dumb slapstick jokes on Modern Family (falling into a pool clothed, etc) so her being "horrified" now is a new development.
* Please don't cite the handful of exceptions, yes I know they're out there, but this is a still a broader cultural shift.

Ridiculous, both Mel B and Sofia Vergara look mortified. Should have grabbed a few willing female participants from the crowd to join in, it looks as though the crowd was clearly digging it.
Also, and I'm sure this was lamented ad nauseam, how do you cast Sofia Vergara in The Three Stooges movie and not pie her. Hell, there wasn't even a piefight in the entire film. An absolute waste and missed opportunity to honor the Stooges classic slapstick go-to schtick.
I guess, at least for mainstream purposes, we can continue to thank/ enjoy the Latin and European markets for embracing the slapstick genre and perpetuating the pie in the face gags.
