Just wanted to share the absolute tragedy that I had today whilst mudding I went out with the intention of getting a little muddy but it got a little out of hand! I left the house in my jodhpurs and riding boots and made my way down to the local reservoir to try and find some mud! I found this stream that looked good! I went in and sank to the top of my boots, just enough to still keep me dry! Then the next step I took, I sank to the top of my thigh! Feeling my boot fill with sloppy smelly mud! It took me a good 15 minutes to escape it was so thick and sticky! Once I I was out I got out of my jodhpurs and boots and they were just too muddy and heavy to take home so I left them in the forest! RIP to my boots and jods!
Anyone else had to leave muddy things behind at the scene?

Places I used to go mudding were all near the sea, salt water is brilliant for washing out muddy clothes. Never left anything behind, though riding a bike loaded up with soaking wet overalls and wellies in plastic bags in the panniers can get a bit heavy!
One time the lovely lady I was photographing lost everything she was wearing in the mud. Our mud spot was perfect - on a tiny island and protected by marsh grass so nobody could see us. She rinsed off in the lake, then changed into her clean clothes and we came back, completely forgetting her muddy outfit. One very long Canadian winter came and went, and next summer we actually found her underwear and T-shirt. Amazingly, after going through being frozen solid in mud, then through the washing machine, they came out fairly clean.
Leaving muddy clothes/boots or any other trashy stuff is littering the area & it is drawing attention to what is going on That may be spoiling a nice site for other people & inviting unwanted interest
Take nothing but 'photos Leave nothing but footprints-well maybe a bit deeper lol
