Ok. I love Abbott and Costello. I've loved them since I was a kid and watched their old movies on Sunday morning (before deregulation). I was surprised when I found this scene.
I was taking a break at work and watching a YouTube clip of one of their live TV performances, and enjoying the heck out of it, when I caught a skit of a woman taking a pie in the face.
Wow. . I wasn't expecting that.
It's not the best of pie hits, but there it was. One I never knew about.
I've only known of one other Abbott and Costello pie scene where a woman got it and it was a blooper where Lou nailed her with a cake when the gag failed (I wish I can find that one again).
Yet, here is another. I don't think this one was ever posted before (I'm sorry if this is a re-post).
"Abbott & Costello Meet the Keystone Kops," which you'd think would have lots of pie throwing, was a total disappointment. But supposedly, A&C had a pie fight involving the cast and crew after filming ended for each of their films. I've never seen any video or stills from those.
Ron Howard supposedly did that, too, when he was beginning as a director, before he became a Serious Director. Again, no visual evidence.

We can only hope Bryce Dallas Howard will one day resume this tradition!
(The pie fight wrap parties, rather than forgetting to photograph stuff)
