This is purely a suggestion, from someone with no experience of shooting any kind of video or working with models, but I think it might work and also be great. It may have been done before, but I've not seen it myself. Its aimed at keeping paid-for videos as "real" as possible in terms of the models' reactions.

Basically- get two models. Be upfront with them in the video about them being paid for it. Play a game to see who gets gunged, but do it with an agreement that only one of them will be, but despite this, they both get payed exactly the same amount.

The idea is that there may genuinely be some tension about whether they will be gunged or not, as if they are not they will be given money for doing essentially nothing.

I'm curious to know people's thoughts- who knows, if it looks like there's a demand for this maybe one of the producers will be tempted...

We've just shot a series of gungetankgirls where the winner gets paid the loser gets nothing and a gunging...

Not exactly what you suggested but close?

Even better, though I suspect less charming producers than yourselves may find it harder to sell that idea to the models!

Believe me we have had some tension in otherwise very silly games over the years on Messymayhem. Some of the girls get very competitive!

The way we shoot the new games is usually shot over two days, day one, they play the games, day 2, they get the results and the loser gets gunged.
Generally when coming back, no one knows who won the games the previous day, except Lisa.
So one of the girls may well end up being paid for not being gunged, they don't know till the winners are announced.

This goes for ALL the new GTG on TopGunge and most of the old GTG involved the winners being paid for not being gunged.

The idea of gungetankgirls with a kind of game and the loser gets gunged while the winner stays clean is rather unique I think - even though many of the (former) mainstream TV-Shows involving gunge or other kind of WAM had this basic concept. Games, Votes, Bets ...
I think many people miss the one or the other of this shows, but it seems there is not so much material of that kind around done by producers.

A real difference to the mainstream may be that in mainstream-shows the contestants really don't want to get gunged - not only for not winning the price, they dislike getting messy at all. And this is something that may be hard to reproduce with models who do this kind of stuff regularly and even like getting messy.

Models playing real-life games or completing realistic bets with wet/messy forfeits and just the losers get messy or wet would be great - not only at a gungetank.
Also scripted scenes involving games or bets could be great if they are acted well!

The Topgunge or Water-Wars/Gunge-Wars Clips are also good but not that interesting for me because at the end there is no difference how a game ended. The goal of winning and staying clean/dry is completely missing.

Firstly, the part about TV contestants really hating being gunged, rubbish, we put our Gunge tank in clubs and have been involved in non wam TV quizz shows and Big Brother, usually girls who have not been gunged before love the fun of it, much more than the models who have been gunged again and again!!! If they were that scared of being gunged they wouldn't have gone on a Gunge game show!

Secondly, you are focusing on the wrong bit! Yes the girls will get messy playing a messy game, BUT, there is a winner and a loser. When the girls return for the result, one of them has lost and does get gunged for it, hard to believe, they don't want to be gunged, they would have preferred to have won, they don't get paid extra for being gunged and they have all the hassle of washing it off and getting clean. If you want to see the girls who really didn't like being gunged, look for the ones who have only worked with us once, there have been a few.

Also unfortunately for you, you are in a minority, the new GTG format is very popular and out selling the old format by quite a bit, however, luckily for you, a game of connect 4 or kaplunk, is much cheaper to film than the messy games, so we will be doing that sort of thing again.
All the media that has gone up so far was shot in two weeks at the end of last summer, so we didn't have much time to come up with games, we have started shooting again last week, this year we have so much more time and scope.

The new format is very flexible, so watch and see what we get up to!

This is pretty much what I do with all the films where girls play games... They both get paid the same amount whether or not they get gunged. Most films around 2011 period are exactly this. The games were all genuine, no one knew who would win/lose or be gunged.

The scripted skits/sketches are different of course, but all competitions and games played are just as you described.

Taking this at face value, a) I love it..I have always loved that as a fantasy

b) I love the concept and can imagine it being done as a fiction..ie it is billed/acted as loser gets no fee, but if you have actually pulled it off that would be very interesting. I imagine it is basically winner gets double, so there is an incentive, or both models get a basic fee for the shoot, but for the game itself winner gets a 'bonus' and loser gets nothing. I can't imagine many models would turn up for a day and risk not being paid. But whatever the details, as a concept it sounds great

I agree with madmicks response to the OP that models who choose to make a living getting messy go to a shoot expecting to get messy..and unless they only film one scene a day the odds are at some point they will get messy..so much as I like the fantasy, the reality is whether they get messy in scene 1 or scene 3 doesn't make much odds.

At the other end of the scale, I still tease Jessie about the time when I paid her to shoot 3 customs with some other MJ girls. In each scene she dished out the mess and stayed clean, so I was paying her to mess up other girls and stay totally clean....and Jessie took to twitter to bemoan the fact and demand she got messy next time

Based on the amount of grief and backlash from the video where Shawna stayed 100% clean... while Carrie got covered in every scene... I will leave this particular "niche" to braver producers than I. One round of that was enough, thanks!

I Love GTG. Just the way it is, Old GTG (with Liz) was the best but i'm warming to the new GTG format of messy games. I understand the site has to involve, glad its still going...

this is a tough conundrum. i like the idea of tension and uncertainty being introduced into a scene. who's going to get it and when. and the potential for lopsided outcomes. but no, i don't want to see a girl stay clean the whole scene.

i've toyed with the idea of making a Wheel of Misfortune, where the wheel decides what happens to whom. and let the unfair chips fall where they may. but again i'll leave that to braver producers and bigger budgets

i think when one girl gets it first for most of the scene, and then the tables turn is the best way i've seen to balance these opposites.

Well, I was joking about being "brave" to do this... And truth me told, the 'Shawna stays clean' clips sold very well. But I still got comments and PMs from people thinking I'd "tricked" them into thinking Shawna got it at some point.

I suppose if you're upfront and say, "You are going to pay money for this clip, and one of the girls will NOT get messy... And if it's not the one you want, then tough. That's the chance you take." ...Then no one can accuse you of trickery. (Also, obviously, you'd word it a little nicer.)

From a hiring standpoint, it's hard enough finding attractive, willing models to do this... Even for money. And even after doing a shoot, not all of them return. So on a personal level, the idea that I would bring in a beautiful model... and pay her NOT to get messy... knowing full well I might never get a second shoot with her... THAT'S what seems like a waste to me.

But as always, YMMV.

One thing I'll say, do you know how difficult it is sometimes to not Gunge a winner on GTG, haha.

One of the girls won each of the two games played the day before, so got paid for three hours and stayed clean, oh, I hate that, but, fair is fair.

I am one of the 'brave' / 'foolhardy' producers producers who has done clips where 1 girl, or more, stays clean.

As others have said, if I know that everyone gets messy then, for me, it feels like what's the point. There's no anticipation / suspense...who will get it..will they all? I just love the not knowing. Or I love the opportunity for gloating etc on the person staying clean. Its difficult to explain as I get that you could have person b gloating throughout and then getting their comeuppance, and that's great..but for me if it happens every time, the whole thing becomes meaningless. That's not the majority view, I know, but it works for me

I think it relates to watching tv and never quite knowing what will happen..whereas in paid for wam scenes you pretty much know everyone gets it, unless you buy from one of the producers who specialise in having 1 girl stay clean .


I am really glad GTG stays fair to the format. I have really enjoyed the clips i have purchased.

I am conscious I am in a minority in preferring one girl to stay clean, tho like Rich, I find my 'someone stays clean' clips DO sell well, so I think it is a minority that is under-represented generally and therefore a less crowded 'marketplace'. Also I do think provided it is clear that one girl stays clean there should be no backlash

There is so much WAM where everyone gets messy for no reason (just for WAM,Just for the fetish) So to have a set up, or a gameshow type thing. With one girl staying clean. Is so great and refreshing (And actually is the only WAM i'm into)

Guess I have some work to do to make the cut even with my target audience!

From my perspective GTG is the best there is, it is the closest to the Noels House Party vote format that first got me interested in gunge. Not to mention they've cracked the gunge recipe I can still only dream of for my tank!

I'm not a huge fan of the new format (and hate the welly episodes...although I appreciate that that is other peoples thing) because for me I liked it to be all one feature. The reaction of the contestant to loosing the game they were playing there and then to me was much better than the reveal show reactions. Also on a more personal note there have been a few outfits in the messy game segment that I'd have much rather seen in the tank, than those from the subsequent reveal show.

But at the end of the day if as Leon says the sales are up then that's great news, and if the plan is to introduce some of the old format in with the new even better as that will cater for everyone.

I don't download a lot of stuff but of my paid downloads, Leonmoomins folder contains the most.

Have to agree that some of the games or outfits are less appealing, but then as said it's good that there's something for everyone and it's not like someone is forcing you to download them.

I often wonder how it works with clothes for shoots.
Do you just tell girls to bring stuff they don't mind getting messy, do you hit charity shops/eBay or is it more thought out?

In the same line of thought please do another leggings special - I'll be first in the que.

Ahhh the age old "you can't please everybody" predicament........

We just shoot what we like to see and what we feel comfortable with.....

We do ask the girls to bring clothes with them and if they don't have things they want to get messy or we don't think there suitable then we provide wardrobe.
Unfortunately not many 18 year old girls are gonna have lots of satin office wear they don't mind trashing so you can usually tell what we've provided and what's their own.
We do pay the girls an outfit fee if their own clothes get messy as incentive!

Hey we are nitpicking i know hahaha... But ultimately we are all Glad GTG (Best WAM site) is still going. And maybe it long continue.
