Come up to south central MI! Creek Ridge Campground has a bog, mudpit which I champion and a clay "Slip Pit" under a dome. Plus there is a quarry not too far from camp too!
Michigan definitely seems like the best place to meet up.... possibly by end of April or early May???? Not sure what the temps will be like but can't wait to get muddy

So I'd love if we setup a long weekend get together at this campground in June. I would definitely come.
When I lived in California, we had a group of us that would get together once a year to play together, cook out, and drink at a rural homestead. It was fun and relaxing.
I'm still toying with getting up there to Michigan to visit the mud pit at Creek Ridge. Have to see if my funds and work will allow me to do it (got a lot of time off requests in the mix at the moment....and have to afford two cruises plus incidentals attached to them). Currently looking at July or August. If not this year, I'm going to try for next year (when I won't have as many cruises and vacations planned).
It would be fun to be naked in and around a mud pit for an entire weekend, a literal mud creature, only cleaning up when absolutely necessary!
June and July are the best months for warm weather and MUD! August the mud is warm, but the air is sometimes cool...especially at night...but not always...
Would love to meet up at a muddy campground or similar with some like minded people. This summer would work well, but just imagining wallowing gets me impatient.
I'd love to visit that pit in Creek Ridge. I'm in the Michigan area and needed a place to go bogging. Haven't really done anything like it before but want to try. Especially want to try with my leggings on.
I went to MI and had a great trip. Flew into Detroit, and it was about a 90 minute drive to the campground. The sliphole was terrific, and I hope to get back this summer to try out the "regular' mudpit, and FINALLY try a quarry mudding........ August DOES cool off a bit at night, but definitely warm up enough to play during the day.....
I was thinking of the first weekend in August, any other suggestions?
I will be at Creekridge Campground the weekend of 5-7 August, to partake of all mudding as shown above. Went there last year and it was great, who else is interested? In years past there has been a bog and mudpit on site, and last year there was an amazing clay-slip hole with dome over it. CRC is in Stockbridge MI about 70 miles from DTW, which is where I'll be flying into.
This is the year we need to make up for the last two when group gatherings weren't an option........
I would love to come up but getting time off from work is always difficult and I have two week-long vacations planned in both June and September this year. I'll see if I can do some logistical juggling, since indulging in mud was one of my big ticket items for this summer.
A few things to remember - the on-site mudpit, and clay "sliphole," are NOT official campground amenities, they're set up by regular campers there, which is why you will NOT see them on the CRC website. So don't call the campground office asking in depth questions about the mud, etc. Out of respect for the guys who set those things up, I don't make a "big deal" about them at the campground office, either. Just enjoy while you're there. The clay sliphole, if it is available again this year, only holds a couple people, and gets QUITE slippery going in/out, caution is imperative.
A sure way to spoil the party at those places is by tracking the mud where it isn't supposed to be. Follow the clean-up regiment, don't bring so much of it into the shower with you.....and don't go anywhere near the pool until you have completely... .completely.... cleaned up.
When I have been able to, I enjoy being at those campgrounds during the week, much fewer people hanging around, and things are more relaxing...... .
While I'll be attending in August, it will NOT be the ONLY time to enjoy things there. They can be enjoyed any time the place is open. It does cool of at night, but warms up during the day.
It definitely does! Thanks for all the helpful tips!! Would anyone know when the earliest the actual mud pit will be ready? I know the campground opens around the end of May but would anyone be interested in braving possible cold ground temps before July?
I'm game! It will be nice and refreshing to play on a hot day anyway.
Hey that rhymes. I'm a poet and I didn't know know it. I can make a rhyme anytime. Alright this is lame and I'm getting ashamed. I'm getting to be really silly.
